The leather is better than in the protector models, and the lining seems thicker, but it doesn't absorb sweat as much. The sole is stiffer, which I like, but people expecting the softness of the protectors might be disappointed. After applying waterproofing, they survived light rain and the first snowfall. Used for 8-12 hours a day, they perform well and moisture evaporates from them quickly. Downsides: it's a shame they don't have 10 eyelets instead of 8, then snow wouldn't get into the shoe through the upper ;)
