I decided to go for Hunter boots out of curiosity, since my previous Protectors from 2016 had already worn out, and new ones are very expensive. Willingly or not, I compare both models: * The Hunters are stiffer in the upper part, which protects the ankle well, although it can be annoying at first before they break in – especially when driving a car. * The tongue is connected to the upper for about half its length (in the Protectors it was 90%), which provides better protection against snow. * The sole looks similar to that of the Protectors, but in the Hunters, it provides less cushioning for the heel, although they have a more comfortable insole (I added a sports insole too, so now walking is very comfortable). * The grip is decent. * The Hunters are a bit narrower than competing models, so those with wide feet may find them slightly uncomfortable at first – before they loosen up. * The sizing is the biggest controversy. The size chart suggested I should buy 45, but after reading reviews I went for 46, and that was the right choice. I waterproofed the boots and wore them for two days, 10 hours each, at -8°C. They didn't leak and performed well, but they do need some breaking in. I’m curious how they’ll look after prolonged use – the Protectors stretched out a lot over time. I have the impression that thanks to the greater rigidity, the Hunters will better maintain their shape. I can't comment on durability yet because I haven't had them long enough.

The sizes run smaller – 46 corresponds to 45 in other brands. The front of the shoe is quite narrow, which may be an issue for people with wide feet, although for someone else they might fit well. On the plus side, the shoes are well made.

The shoes are very lightweight. I always buy shoes based on the insole length—then they will definitely fit, though they might be a bit unstable. Very comfortable, I bought extra socks and laces, so I’m set for a few years. In comfortable shoes, everything seems better—I can honestly recommend this purchase. Remember to choose shoes not only according to insole length but also foot width.

The leather is better than in the protector models, and the lining seems thicker, but it doesn't absorb sweat as much. The sole is stiffer, which I like, but people expecting the softness of the protectors might be disappointed. After applying waterproofing, they survived light rain and the first snowfall. Used for 8-12 hours a day, they perform well and moisture evaporates from them quickly. Downsides: it's a shame they don't have 10 eyelets instead of 8, then snow wouldn't get into the shoe through the upper ;)
