Warm, soft, zippered fleece sweatshirt with a spacious hood with visor. The 380 g/m2 material provides thermal insulation for even the most severe frosts, enabling the simultaneous removal of excess heat and moisture (sweat) released during exercise. Increased breathability and thermal exchange with the environment is facilitated by underarm vents, closed by zippers. The opening and closing directions of the zippers are chosen so that the owner will have no trouble operating them independently.

Thanks to the roomy fit a thinner sweatshirt can be worn under the sweatshirt, but even a bulletproof vest will fit. The rear part is slightly elongated to protect the lower back from being blown up, but the whole jacket is quite short - mainly to provide unobstructed access to pockets and equipment carried on the belt of the pants. 

The sweatshirt has six pockets:
- two chest ones closed with zippers,
- two on the sleeves at shoulder height,
- one on the left sleeve above the wrist,
- one so-called poaching pocket - on the back under the cross with two independent accesses - from the right and left side.

The shoulder pockets have soft Velcro, allowing you to attach a properly prepared patch.

The hood is voluminous so that it can be worn over a head already protected by a cap. It has a soft visor to protect the wearer from water runoff directly on the face. The hood is sewn to the collar in such a way that the lining does not expose the neck. As a result, particularly sensitive areas are protected from wind and cold.

The sleeves from wrist to elbow have been reinforced with strong material, while the elastic cuffs have been replaced with a velcro fastening patch, allowing the size to be adjusted depending on the thickness of the wrist, as well as whether the wearer is also wearing gloves or, for example, a watch.

In order to protect the body from hypothermia due to airing or getting wet, ECWCS clothing should be used.

    Very pleasant, heavy fleece sweatshirt. Well made. Runs large! Good price on sale, can be used as a jacket in spring and early fall when the air temperature is not below 10 degrees, but personally for me, it lacks lower pockets for this purpose.

    The recent cold weather prompted me to buy this piece of clothing. It's wide enough that I can easily fit a sweatshirt, sweater, or fleece underneath, though it can be hard to put a jacket over it, so I usually wear it as an outer layer. The pockets under the arms are fine, although overall there are more pockets than I would prefer, and I haven't yet found a use for the one that goes across the back – sometimes I put gloves or a scarf there. The fleece is very warm, comfortable, has a good hood, and the color is nice. Highly recommended.

    I own the MK2 version of this fleece which I really like but I was always really interested what the first version was like. This version is a little thicker than the MK2 and there for slightly warmer I also think that this version is maybe a bit better for backpacking if your pack has a hip belt because the pockets are well positioned to allow you to access them still. I actually prefer the cuffs on this version as they are adjustable and sizing wise I have the MK2 in 3XL and this version ins 2XL and they both fit perfectly. Highly recommended I will be taking this on a camping trip next week and I am looking forward to using it.

    Polar Patriot is incredibly warm and comfortable – it performed great during several more challenging trips. The back pocket with a zipper (accessible from both sides) turned out to be very practical, even when I needed to carry some small groceries.
