Temperature and usage conditions
The usage temperatures of the Carinthia Tropen sleeping bag are defined according to EN 13537:
- T-comfort: 9.4 C – the lowest temperature at which a woman can sleep comfortably through the night,
- T-limit: 5.1 C – the minimum temperature at which a man can sleep without discomfort,
- T-extreme: -7.9 C – the lowest temperature for survival. Not recommended for regular use.
Shelltrans material
The outer layer consists of lightweight and water-resistant Shelltrans fabric, which loosely envelops the inner layer to create an effective insulation barrier. Inside, it features polyamide, known for its minimal moisture absorption and enhanced resistance to mechanical damage.
G-Loft filling, Thermoflect
The inside features synthetic G-Loft insulation, ensuring consistent temperature regulation. This material preserves its insulating capabilities even after repeated use, washing, or exposure to wet conditions. The presence of a Thermoflect layer boosts insulation further by reflecting body heat back into the sleeping bag.
Trapezoidal shaping in the foot area enhances thermal comfort and leg room, effectively aiding in heat retention at the lower section of the bag.

Left-side zipper, Anti Snag system
The sleeping bag features a two-way zipper on the left side, allowing it to be fully opened. Thanks to the Anti Snag system, the fabric does not get caught during zipping. A Velcro flap at the top prevents the zipper from opening unintentionally during sleep.
Integrated hood and mosquito net
The hood at the top of the sleeping bag enhances thermal comfort by encircling the head and shielding it from the cold. Its ergonomic design offers extra protection against moisture and wind. A built-in mosquito net, positioned in the front flap with snap buttons, zips around the hood to effectively guard the user against insects.

This is one of the most interesting three-season sleeping bags available on the market. I have been using it for almost a decade and it still works great.
