This will ensure that the belt can handle the load and will not come undone, such belts include the UTL model. The model has an Easy Blocking System composite buckle (it acts like a regulator on the shoulders of a backpack) which means that the belt will break sooner than loosen. The advantage of composite buckles is that they are undetectable by metal detectors, e.g. at airports or other gated areas. On the other hand, a strong strap made of thick nylon will not bend and will not have the so-called memory effect (on ordinary lightweight straps, where the holster is worn on a daily basis, the strap wraps or bends, resulting in increasingly poor stabilisation of the equipment carried on the strap).

When considering carrying accessories on the belt, its width is an important factor to consider. The wider the strap, the more securely it holds the accessories attached to it whereas a narrow strap is more likely to pull away from the body and wobble during movement. A classic leather officer's belts is also a good option due to the materials used (leather and steel buckle) and the greater width of the belt makes it suitable for carrying heavier loads. The natural look of tanned leather will make military leather belts work well with combat boots, jeans or even casual city trousers.
