Temperature and usage conditions
The usage temperatures of the Carinthia Tropen sleeping bag are defined according to EN 13537:
- T-comfort: 9.4 C – the lowest temperature at which a woman can sleep comfortably through the night,
- T-limit: 5.1 C – the minimum temperature at which a man can sleep without discomfort,
- T-extreme: -7.9 C – the lowest temperature for survival. Not recommended for regular use.
Shelltrans material
The outer layer is made from lightweight and water-resistant Shelltrans fabric, which loosely wraps around the inner layer to form an effective insulation barrier. The interior is based on polyamide, known for its low moisture absorption and enhanced resistance to mechanical damage.
G-Loft filling, Thermoflect
The inside is equipped with synthetic G-Loft insulation, ensuring a consistent temperature. Even under extensive use, repeated washing, or exposure to humidity, this material maintains its insulating capabilities. The Thermoflect layer further enhances insulation by reflecting body heat back into the sleeping bag.
Trapezoidal shaping in the foot section enhances thermal comfort and legroom, effectively aiding in heat retention in the bag's lower section.
Sleeping Bag System - Defence 4
The Tropen model works well as an inner layer when combined with other sleeping bags. This setup increases the system’s thermal efficiency while allowing excess moisture to escape. The user can enjoy thermal comfort even in temperatures as low as -20 C. The Sleeping Bag System - Defence 4 technology and applied fabrics ensure low weight and compact packing size.
Left-side zipper, Anti Snag system
The sleeping bag features a two-way zipper on the left side, allowing it to be fully opened. Thanks to the Anti Snag system, the fabric does not get caught during zipping. A Velcro flap at the top prevents the zipper from opening unintentionally during sleep.
Integrated hood and mosquito net
The hood on the upper section of the sleeping bag enhances thermal comfort by encircling the head and shielding it from the cold. Its ergonomic design offers extra protection against moisture and wind. A built-in mosquito net on the front flap, secured with snap buttons, zips around the hood to effectively guard the user from insects.
Easy transport and storage
When packed, the sleeping bag takes up little space, making it easy to carry and store. Its packed dimensions are 19 x 24 cm, and the weight is 1100 g, allowing comfortable transport without unnecessary burden.

Great sleeping bag for summer nights or indoor use. It's quite light and has compact dimensions. The mesh doesn't work very well when it touches your face. In terms of parameters, it is similar to the Snugpak Elite 1.
