Very good sleeping bag. I use it together with the Carinthia Observer Plus and the Snugpak Special Forces bivi bag cover – for me, this combination works great. It's a bit large, but compressing it definitely reduces its volume, and the Carinthia performs well here. I definitely recommend it.

Temperature range and usage conditions
The operating temperatures for the Defence 4 sleeping bag are specified according to the EN 13537 standard:
- T-comfort: -8.8°C – the lowest temperature at which a woman can comfortably sleep through the night,
- T-limit: -15°C – the minimum temperature at which a man can sleep without discomfort,
- T-extreme: -35°C – the lowest survival temperature within the sleeping bag. Not advised for regular use.
G-Loft insulation, Thermoflect
The interior of the sleeping bag is filled with G-Loft synthetic down, which effectively supports thermal comfort. The insulation material maintains its properties even after exposure to water, washing, or extensive use. The Thermoflect layer reflects body heat and keeps it inside, enhancing insulation performance. The outer shell is larger and does not cling directly to the interior, adding an extra thermal barrier.

There’s an insulated draft tube along the zipper to prevent cold air from seeping in. A Velcro flap at the top of the zipper helps avoid unintentional openings. The trapezoidal footbox design provides extra space for feet and enhances heat retention.
Integrated hood for cold protection
The model features a contoured hood with an adjustable face opening, allowing for personalized adjustment with drawcords to improve protection against the cold.

This is one of the best winter sleeping bags available on the market. I have been using it for nearly a decade and it still performs great. It provides warmth, allows you to breathe, and wicks away moisture well. It stands out for its high-quality workmanship and use of premium materials. However, its downside is its fairly large packed size.

I had to sleep in it during freezing temperatures and I have to admit that it fully met my expectations. Even though I get cold easily, the sleeping bag kept me very warm.
