Wiley X Founder Glasses - Captivate Tungsten Mirror/Matte Black/Tan

Comfortable protective glasses in Mirror/Matte Black/Tan with large rectangular frames that allow for the use of large corrective lenses. The high mechanical strength of the lenses protects the eyes from fragments, ricochets, and other incoming objects, meeting the requirements of class F (protection against objects weighing 0.86 g traveling at a speed of 45 m/s).

Wiley X is one of the leading suppliers of eye protection equipment for the United States Armed Forces, athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts.

triloid frames, hvp technology

Anatomically shaped frames made from durable Triloid nylon. Their design ensures excellent fit without reducing comfort when using headphones or ear protectors. Rubber, non-slip temples and nose pads ensure stable positioning of the glasses. Both frames and lenses are made with HVP technology (High Velocity Protection), effectively protecting eyes from injuries caused by fast-moving objects. Removable, rotating side shields provide additional protection from objects approaching from the sides where the visor does not offer full coverage.

polycarbonate lenses with t-shell coating and captivate technology

Tinted lenses made of shatter-resistant Selenite polycarbonate with Captivate technology balance the visible light spectrum for better light transmission to the eye. They maintain color neutrality while enhancing greens. They reduce glare and improve contrast and color saturation in natural surroundings. Light transmission is 14%. The T-Shell coating protects against scratches, extending the durability of the material. An additional oleophobic coating prevents dirt, dust, oil, snow, and water from adhering to the lens surface. Perfect for outdoor use on sunny days and in bright light, they also provide eye protection against harmful UVA and UVB radiation.

Standards and certifications

  • EN.166F - meets the European standard for medium energy impact protection. According to the standard, the frame and lenses withstand the impact of a steel ball with a diameter of 6 mm and a weight of 0.86 g, traveling at a speed of 162 km/h
  • ANSI Z87.1 - defines the impact resistance of the visor and frame. Tests verify resistance to impact by a heavy steel object (High Mass) and a high-speed steel ball (High Velocity), confirming resistance to typical mechanical hazards.
  • UV Protection - visor provides full protection against UVA/UVB radiation (minimum 99.9% blockage).

The glasses are solidly made, extremely light and comfortable, and not excessively dark, so they're suitable even for days with less sunlight. In my opinion, they're great. Although the price may be off-putting, I think they're worth the money.
