The glasses are well made, extremely lightweight and comfortable. They are not overly dark, making them suitable even for days with less sunlight. In my opinion, they are great. Although the price might be discouraging, I believe they are worth the amount.
Wiley X Founder Glasses - Captivate Tungsten Mirror/Matte Black/Tan
Comfortable protective glasses available in Mirror/Matte Black/Tan with generously sized rectangular frames accommodating larger corrective lenses. The lenses offer exceptional mechanical durability, shielding the eyes from debris, ricochets, and various incoming objects, compliant with the specifications of class F (protection from objects weighing 0.86 g at a velocity of 45 m/s).
Wiley X stands as a top provider of eye protection gear for United States Armed Forces personnel, athletes, and those who enjoy the outdoors.
triloid frames, hvp technology
Frames are anatomically shaped and constructed from robust Triloid nylon. The design guarantees a perfect fit without sacrificing comfort when using headphones or ear protectors. Non-slip rubber temples and nose pads keep the glasses securely in place. Both frames and lenses utilize HVP technology (High Velocity Protection), effectively safeguarding eyes from injuries caused by high-speed objects. Removable, rotating side shields offer extra protection from side impacts not covered by the visor.
polycarbonate lenses with t-shell coating and captivate technology
Tinted lenses crafted from shatter-resistant Selenite polycarbonate with Captivate technology optimize the visible light spectrum, enhancing light transmission to the eyes. They preserve color neutrality while amplifying greens, minimizing glare, and boosting contrast and color saturation in natural settings. Light transmission is at 14%. The T-Shell coating offers scratch protection, increasing the material's longevity. An additional oleophobic coating resists the adhesion of dirt, dust, oil, snow, and water on the lens surface. Ideal for outdoor activities on sunny days and in bright conditions, they also shield eyes from harmful UVA and UVB radiation.
Standards and certifications
- EN.166F - complies with the European standard for medium energy impact protection. As per the standard, both the frame and lenses can endure the impact from a steel ball measuring 6 mm in diameter and weighing 0.86 g, moving at a speed of 162 km/h.
- ANSI Z87.1 - outlines the impact resistance criteria for the visor and frame. Testing demonstrates their ability to withstand impacts from a heavy steel object (High Mass) and a fast-moving steel ball (High Velocity), ensuring resistance to common mechanical threats.
- UV Protection - the visor ensures complete protection against UVA/UVB rays, blocking at least 99.9% of radiation.
