The glasses are well made, extremely lightweight and comfortable. They are not overly dark, making them suitable even for days with less sunlight. In my opinion, they are great. Although the price might be discouraging, I believe they are worth the amount.

Wiley X Founder Glasses - Captivate Polarized Black Mirror/Matte Black
Comfortable protective glasses in Captivate Polarized Black Mirror/Matte Black with large rectangular frames that allow for the use of large corrective lenses. The high mechanical strength of the lenses protects the eyes from fragments, ricochets, and other incoming objects, meeting the requirements of class F (protection against objects weighing 0.86 g traveling at a speed of 45 m/s).
Wiley X is one of the leading suppliers of eye protection equipment for the United States Armed Forces, athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts.
triloid frames, hvp technology
Frames are anatomically shaped from durable Triloid nylon. Their construction provides a superb fit without compromising comfort when wearing headphones or ear protectors. Non-slip rubber temples and nose pads ensure the glasses remain secure. Frames and lenses utilize HVP technology (High Velocity Protection), offering effective eye protection against injuries from fast-moving objects. Removable, rotating side shields add extra security from lateral approaches that the visor doesn't fully cover.
polycarbonate lenses with t-shell coating and captivate technology
Lenses crafted from impact-resistant Selenite polycarbonate deliver 17% light transmission. Furthermore, they feature a T-Shell coating that resists scratches, safeguarding the material from harm and prolonging its durability. Ideal for outdoor pursuits in sunny and bright conditions.
Polarized lenses developed with Captivate technology shield the eyes from harmful UVA and UVB rays. An oleophobic coating repels dust, dirt, oil, snow, and water from adhering to the lens.
Standards and certifications
- EN.166F - aligns with the European standard for medium energy impact protection. This standard ensures that the lenses and frame can endure the impact from a steel ball measuring 6 mm in diameter and weighing 0.86 g, traveling at 162 km/h.
- ANSI Z87.1 - specifies the impact resistance for both the visor and frame. Testing confirms resilience against impacts from a heavy steel object (High Mass) and a high-speed steel ball (High Velocity), ensuring protection against common mechanical risks.
- UV Protection - the visor offers comprehensive shielding from UVA/UVB rays, achieving at least 99.9% blockage.

Selenite visors are made of unbreakable polycarbonate, which provides high visual clarity and UV protection.
T-Shell is a coating on Wiley X glasses that resists scratches, protects lenses from damage and extends their life.
Captivate lens technology is an advanced filter system used in sunglasses that aims to improve the quality of vision by filtering out harmful light and improving color perception and contrast.
The Oleophobic coating repels dirt, oil, water and other substances, so the lenses stay cleaner and easier to maintain. The technology makes the lenses more durable and comfortable to wear.
Z87.1 standard developed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for the durability of eye protectors. The standard includes two types of tests (3 tests) for the impact resistance of the lens and the stability of its seating in the frame: resistance to High Mass and High Velocity objects.
EN166F is the European standard for protection against the impact of accelerated objects (Medium Energy Impact). Class F mechanical strength means that, according to the standard, the frame and visors of the glasses will withstand the impact of a steel BBs with a diameter of 6 mm and a weight of 0.86 g, traveling at 45 m/s (162 km/h).
