Salewa Alpine-X Ice Axe 53 cm - Night/Black

The Salewa Alpine-X Ice Axe with a length of 53 cm and a weight of 350 g is designed for alpine hikes, glacier touring, and general mountain activities. It combines a carbon steel blade with a lightweight 7075 aluminium shaft. It is equipped with a wide adze for cutting steps and a spike that facilitates plunging into snow. The blade thickness of about 3 mm is suitable for both snow and ice. This model meets the EN 13089:2011+A3:2023 standard and corresponds to type 1 (B), which is the category for ice axes used in classic mountaineering and glacier touring.

Blade with teeth and adze made of carbon steel

Ice axe head is constructed from carbon steel and has an openwork design that reduces weight while maintaining high strength. It features a toothed blade for penetrating ice and a wide adze for carving steps in hard snow. In the head and at the base of the shaft, there are holes to clip in a carabiner, making it easier to transport and secure the equipment.

Straight shaft with spike for plunging

The shaft is made of anodised 7075 aluminium, which combines low weight with high load resistance. The smooth surface enhances the ease of handling the ice axe and ensures a firm grip and stability at various angles. The lower part of the shaft is finished with a replaceable carbide spike, which improves stability when plunging into snow and ice and supports security on hard surfaces.
