Katadyn Befree Water Filter 1 l - Black Edition

After using the filter in the field for several days, I am satisfied with it. It did not get clogged (probably also because the water was very clean), and cleaning is simple – just follow the methods provided by the manufacturer if you notice a drop in water flow. The large thread allows you to quickly fill a bottle with a greater amount of water. An important advantage is the possibility of gravitational operation – you just need to turn it upside down and you don’t have to squeeze the water, although the flow is slower then. The manufacturer recommends cleaning it using their disinfection tablets or a few drops of household bleach per litre of water. The prepared solution should be poured into the bottle and passed through the filter to disinfect it after use or before a long break. Detailed instructions are included in the leaflet, which is worth reading and following. A disadvantage of the filter is the bottle – you cannot buy it separately, so if it gets damaged, there is a problem. The differences between this system and straw-type filters, e.g. the Sawyer Mini, can be easily found by yourself.

The filter has proven itself on many mountain trips – it’s very practical, doesn’t take up much space, effectively purifies water, and the taste remains neutral. This is my second bottle already and I’ll definitely buy another. Highly recommended.
