Helikon Gunfighter Softshell Shark Skin Windblocker Jacket - Shadow Grey

Lightweight Softshell jacket in Shadow Grey, made from elastic SharkSkin fabric. Effectively protects against wind and precipitation, while providing good thermal insulation. Designed for use in both tactical operations and everyday urban conditions.

SharkSkin fabric, breathability 8000 g/m2

The design uses SharkSkin fabric, which stretches in all directions. Fleece lining is used on the inside and around the collar. The sleeves from the wrists to the elbows are reinforced with durable fabric. Breathability of 8000 g/m2 prevents excessive sweating during activity. Ventilation openings under the arms, adjustable with zips, increase air flow. No branches, leaves or other elements of the forest floor stick to the surface of the material, which can be a problem with fleece jackets.

Windblocker membrane, Chemours Teflon waterproofing

The Windblocker membrane is a flexible and breathable windproof layer integrated directly into the outer fabric. Its task is to reduce body cooling while maintaining moisture wicking properties. The outer layer of the fabric is coated with Chemours Teflon impregnation, which protects against light rain and dirt.

7 spacious pockets

The jacket is equipped with 7 functional pockets:

  • two zippered chest pockets with D-rings and small organisers
  • two shoulder pockets with headphone cable openings
  • one pocket on the left sleeve, near the wrist, with a zip fastening
  • one internal pocket with a Velcro fastening
  • one rear ‘poacher's’ pocket with two independent openings on the sides

Hood with visor, adjustable cuffs

The large hood, which can be tucked into the collar, is equipped with a soft peak that protects the face from dripping water. The hood design does not expose the neck when unfolded, reducing the risk of draughts. Adjustment is possible thanks to drawstrings. The cuffs are finished with a Velcro tab, which allows you to adjust the circumference to the thickness of your wrist or clothing worn underneath, such as gloves or a watch.

Velcro panels

There are sewn-in Velcro panels on the shoulders for attaching patches, such as flags, unit markings or Morale Patches, allowing for customization of the jacket.

YKK zip

The main fastening is a two-way YKK zip, known for its reliable technical fastening solutions.

I am 180 cm tall, weigh 80 kg, have an athletic build, and size L is perfect for me. The jacket handles water well during rain – I have already worn it a few times at the shooting range in such conditions. The pockets, cut, and workmanship are very good. As for abrasion resistance, the Velcro can cause pilling. If someone only uses a belt with a pistol, the jacket will work great. With a rifle and a low-quality belt, the material may get worn. I use it at the shooting range, but I try not to damage it. I definitely recommend it.

I'll start with the positives – the jacket looks great and fits very well. It's lightweight, has plenty of pockets and interesting extras, as well as a very nice hood. It's not bothered by light wind or rain and you just want to wear it – exactly the kind I've always dreamed of. However, there are a few downsides: after putting it on you may get the impression that it's sewn differently at the shoulders, but this feeling quickly passes (probably due to the zips under the arms or the sewing method – when you raise your arms only the sleeve rises). The material seems to pick up dirt easily, but it can be wiped off quickly. In my jacket, one of the cords for the hood in the pocket was stuck, the other worked fine. Despite these flaws, I am very happy with it. Previously I used a Brandit M65 with a liner, which lasted 10 years. Now I will use the liner with this one, because why buy extra fleeces when I already have one that works great. As for the M65, winter was no problem for it, but it was very heavy. If not for the worn cuffs, pockets, and faded colour, it would be indestructible. It survived trips to the forest, work, and the city – nothing harmed it. I don't know if this jacket will prove equally durable, maybe it's just a case of getting used to the M65. Finally, a minus for Militaria and INPOST – I paid 15 PLN for next-day delivery (as assured), ordered on Friday afternoon, and received the parcel only on Monday, which is standard shipping.

The Helikon Gunfighter is one of the best softshells I've used. The Shark Skin material is durable, effectively protects against wind and light rain, and at the same time provides good breathability – even during intense movement, I don't overheat. The armpit ventilation is a great solution, you can open it when you exert yourself more. The cut is fitted but does not restrict movement – suitable for the field as well as for everyday use. The hood is adjustable and protects well against the wind. The pockets are practically arranged, so I have somewhere to stash all the necessary things. After a few months of use there is no visible wear, no problems with the zips. The jacket is great for the mountains, cycling and daily wear. It's a very good option for those looking for a durable softshell that provides good protection against wind and cold.

On my XXXL jacket the cuffs are so wide that a 9mm slingshot could probably fit inside. However, overall – as always with Helikon – everything is finished to a very high standard. I must admit, I also have two softshells from other brands and it's a common issue: the bigger the size, the excessively wider the sleeves.

Excellent jacket, made with attention to detail. The pockets are cleverly designed. The material is pleasant to the touch. Quite warm, but for colder days I recommend a fleece – this depends on your own resistance to the cold. I hope it will serve me for a long time. I bought it on promotion on a friend's recommendation. The only doubt is the adjusters at the ends of the sleeves. Overall, I highly recommend it. Helikon never disappoints.

This is another Helikon jacket in my collection. It stands out for its solid workmanship, offers many pockets and compartments. I appreciate the possibility of personal configuration. The jacket is waterproof and meets my requirements, and additionally provides warmth – even at 5 degrees it’s enough to wear just a T-shirt underneath for comfort.

After the first use of the jacket I am very pleased. It worked well during a winter mountain trip in strong wind. With a thermal shirt and a fleece it was very warm and the wind was not noticeable. I recommend it to everyone.

Great jacket. I was looking for a lightweight jacket for warmer evenings and I was pleasantly surprised, because despite the thin material, it retains warmth well. It has ventilation openings and a comfortable hood hidden in the collar, which is a big advantage. Very comfortable and looks good.

The jacket is versatile and works in various weather conditions – you can unzip the zips under the arms in warm weather, or put on a fleece underneath when it's colder. It goes perfectly with Patagonia or Alpha fleeces, and in very cold weather you can wear all three layers at once.

Very good quality, materials and finish are at a high level, I have no comments. Unfortunately, the sizing is completely unusual – according to the website, I should have XXL, but after fitting it turned out the sleeves are good, the chest is a tight fit, the length is still acceptable. However, the pockets are completely impractical: you can only fit a thin wallet, anything thicker won't go in. I ordered XXXL and it was about 10 cm larger than the measurements given in the shop. Hard to recommend even on promotion, certainly not for over 500 PLN. I give 4 stars for workmanship – maybe people with a slim build will be happy, but more athletic people may have trouble with the fit.

Simply fantastic, excellent material, cut and workmanship. The jacket is also warm – you only need to wear a short-sleeved t-shirt underneath. The only thing that could be improved are the front pockets, which I don't completely like. Despite that, it's an excellent jacket!

This is already my second jacket from this series, this time as a present. Lots of pockets, classic Helikon workmanship. The jacket doesn’t get dirty and is durable – even in hard-to-reach spots nothing happens to it. I made a small change to the hood, removing the Velcro which interfered with a Helikon cap. Now it’s perfect. I recommend it!

The jacket is quite all right. I intended to wear it mainly in the forest, but now I wear it every day. The pockets are functional and useful. The ones on the belly seem strange, but work well with a backpack with a hip belt. As for waterproofness, it’s not the best – it soaks through quickly in rain, but gives protection in light drizzle. Positive – it dries quickly. For the mountains, I would choose a more waterproof model. If you hide the hood in the collar, the collar becomes quite stiff and thick.

The jacket is warm, finished with fur on the inside, a bit stiff, and resembles felt. Very carefully sewn, nice pocket placement, and thoughtful solutions. Unfortunately, it performs poorly in terms of breathability – after about 10 minutes of testing, the shirt underneath becomes damp, so it's necessary to open the underarm vents. Ultimately, I returned the jacket because I sweat quickly during activity.

An excellent softshell with many practical pockets, very useful and comfortable – the hood that folds into the collar is a big plus, and the size matches the description. I definitely recommend it.
