Origin and Beginnings of the Brand

The brand was founded in 1987 in the United States by a veteran of the American army, Myles R. Freeman Sr. Initially, it operated under the name Protective Optics in California, focusing on creating shooting glasses for FBI agents and soldiers. The inspiration to start the company was the desire to offer better eye protection for uniformed services, stemming from the founder's own experiences during military service.

Development and Expansion

In the 1990s, the brand began to expand its range to include protective and sunglasses also for civilian users, including athletes, fishermen, and industrial workers. In 2007, the company changed its name to Wiley X, and in subsequent years moved its headquarters to Livermore, California, to relocate the main headquarters to Frisco, Texas, in 2022. In 2007, Wiley X EMEA was established in Europe with headquarters in Denmark, serving customers in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
