This model is not the best for carrying weapons (I tested it with a Mauser Kar98). However, the special pocket is great for a small hatchet or other equipment that can be attached to the outside. Once packed, the backpack seems roomy (the main compartment is simple, without additional organization). The bottle pockets can fit an Oasis 1L (just barely), Wildo 0.7, or Esbit 0.6 thermos without any problem (I haven't tried other sizes). The small front pockets are well designed and spacious. As a downside, I consider the lack of bottom straps and rather small side pockets.
