MAPA camouflage
The MAPA camouflage pattern, designed by Maciej Dojlitko, a graduate and academic at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, originates from the author of the publication Theory of Deconstruction of the Visual Message. Tools for Designing Military Camouflage (Gdańsk 2015). The innovative project, supported by convincing theoretical and experimental arguments, including computer analysis of thousands of terrain photographs, has attracted the interest of specialists and military clothing manufacturers. The MAPA camouflage debuted at the International Defense Industry Exhibition in Kielce in 2017 as a camouflage pattern for the Dromader gear and uniform system by Maskpol, part of the Polish Armaments Group. This system was developed with soldiers of the Territorial Defense Forces in mind, but the MAPA camouflage itself was also considered as a future pattern for the entire Polish Armed Forces, where it could replace the wz.93 camouflage. Unfortunately, to date, the MAPA camouflage has not been introduced as the official camouflage pattern of the Polish Army.
Key features of the MAPA camouflage in the basic woodland variant:

- biomorphic shapes resembling vegetation
- highly contrasting elements imitating light reflections and shadows

The MAPA pattern is an interesting alternative to the most modern camouflage patterns, such as PenCott, MultiCam, Kryptek, Flecktarn, or the Finnish M/05. In some respects, it is more advanced than them and also better replicates the colors found in Central European forests from late spring to early autumn.

Among the MAPA caps, this model stands out in particular because it is designed for use with hearing protectors – there is no snap on top, so nothing presses against the head. It would be nice to have a cloth under the visor to wipe your forehead. Overall, I am satisfied.
