Temperature ratings and usage conditions

The temperature ratings for the Defence 6 sleeping bag comply with the EN 13537 standard:

  • T-limit: -18 C – the lowest temperature at which a man can maintain comfortable sleep without experiencing cold.
  • T-extreme: -40 C – the minimal survival temperature within the sleeping bag. Not advised for regular use.

Shellproof polyamide, trapezoidal footbox

Both the outer and inner layers are constructed from Shellproof polyamide - a nylon microfiber-based material with a microporous structure that offers resistance to both moisture and mechanical damage. The trapezoidal foot section enhances space and helps maintain heat more efficiently.

G-Loft insulation, Thermoflect

The interior contains lightweight synthetic G-Loft insulation, ensuring exceptional thermal protection. Even when wet or after extensive use, the three-layer filling maintains its insulating capabilities. With a Thermoflect layer that redirects body heat back inside, the outer shell is positioned away from the inner lining to form an additional insulating barrier.

Central zipper, Anti Snag system

The center-placed two-way zipper enables the sleeping bag to be completely opened. The Anti Snag system ensures fabric doesn't get caught in the zipper. An insulating draft tube along the zipper prevents cold air from entering. At the top, a Velcro tab secures the zipper during sleep.

Integrated hood for cold protection

Featuring an ergonomic hood with an adjustable face opening, the sleeping bag offers personalization through elastic drawcords.

Easy transport and storage

Compact when folded, it requires minimal space for storage and transport. With a packed size of 25 x 45 cm and a weight of 2600 g, it serves as a practical portable solution.

    The sleeping bag is made of very high-quality materials and provides excellent thermal insulation – temperatures down to -10°C are no problem for it. The central zipper and solid sliders make it much easier to get out quickly, which isn't always the case with other models. I had heard a lot of good things about Carinthia brands specifically for their zippers, and this was confirmed here. The set includes a durable compression sack that significantly reduces the size of the sleeping bag, even though the bag itself is quite large and there is indeed plenty to compress. As for the weight and size, for a synthetic sleeping bag with such parameters, it's quite standard – plus, you don't have to worry about it as much as with down equivalents. The Defence 6 fits vertically without any problem in the lower compartment of my Savotta Jaakari XL backpack, so it's a tried and tested solution. However, keep in mind that you need a large backpack, or you will need to attach the sleeping bag outside. I definitely recommend this model – personally, I prefer the Defence 6 for winter instead of a combination of Defence 4 with Tropen.
