Flecktarn is a traditional German military camouflage design, officially implemented by the Bundeswehr in 1990. This pattern features small, irregular spots in five colors: typically dark green, olive, brown, black, and beige. The distribution of numerous dots and the blurred edges between colors enable Flecktarn to effectively obscure the wearer’s outline in forested areas, as well as in scrubland or against forest undergrowth backgrounds. Designed specifically for European climates, particularly the temperate zone, Flecktarn continues to serve as a standard pattern for the German army, as well as other military and law enforcement personnel. Its success has resulted in numerous variants and adaptations across other nations.
