Woodland, also referred to as U.S. Woodland or M81, is a traditional camouflage pattern introduced to the US Armed Forces in the early 1980s, inspired by the earlier ERDL design. For more than 20 years, it served as the standard military pattern until the early 21st century. Characterized by large, uneven patches in shades of green, brown, beige, and black, it offers excellent camouflage and deformation abilities, particularly in forested regions. Due to its effectiveness and international recognition, this pattern has given rise to numerous variations that have been adopted by over 60 uniform formations worldwide. It has also significantly influenced popular culture, transitioning from military use to everyday fashion.
