The Alpha Industries Explorer Jacket - Black

The jacket is nice. I removed the extra fur because it’s not needed in Ukraine (that’s more for the North Pole). Size L fits me well (I’m 178 cm tall, 92 kg). The only thing that surprised me: at Nova Poshta I wasn’t allowed to try it on. It specifically said: no fitting, only inspection. I had to buy it on trust and risk. But everything worked out. It is still strange that they don’t allow you to try it on.

Undoubtedly, a good thing. The only thing to consider is whether the manufacturer sizes a bit small, or if it's just a slim fit, though in the description here it is stated as a loose fit. For example, an XXL from Timberland fits me much more loosely.

The jacket is really thick and warm, and at the same time does not restrict freedom of movement. I am 176 cm tall and have a 110 cm chest, size L fits very well. Even after putting on a thick fleece there's still a bit of room, which means the jacket doesn't restrict movement. Positive opinions of others about retaining heat were also confirmed – at -10°C and in a thin top I felt comfortable outside. Highly recommend.

I've been using the jacket for a second season already and have to confirm that it holds up very well. I tested it in winter in our mountains and it provided the right temperature. At 0°C I only wear a thermal shirt underneath. The only downside is the buttons – after a year of use two of them fell off, so at this price they should be sewn better.

The jacket is very warm and functional. At my height of 188 cm and weight of 95 kg, size XL fits perfectly. The biggest downside is the buttons, which have poorly sewn threads and after a month of wearing, they've started to come loose – probably they'll fall off soon and I'll have to return the jacket, which is inconvenient in winter because the shop has 14 days to process complaints, and being without a jacket during this period could be problematic.

I'll just add that the zip can be opened in two directions, so you can unzip the jacket from the bottom, e.g., when getting into the car, with the top still zipped up. The jacket also has a waist adjustment. I give it 10/10.

At first I had some doubts about the price, but after deciding to buy and seeing the jacket I understand what I paid for. Sturdy construction, high-quality materials, thoughtful design and practical, sufficient pockets (maybe the inside pocket could do with a zip). I can't comment on insulation yet – I'll test it in the coming season, but I hope I won't be disappointed.

The jacket is extremely comfortable and very warm. I hesitated for a long time because of the high price, but it was a good decision. I even tested it at -20°C, with only a T-shirt and shirt underneath, and I was still hot. It protects very well against rain, snow and wind. There are many pockets in convenient places. I wouldn't recommend wearing it in a shopping centre – it gets very hot. I plan to buy a similar one for my wife.

I spent a long time thinking about buying this jacket, but I don't regret my decision. It's lightweight and very warm. I haven't had the chance to test it in sub-zero temperatures yet. The quality of workmanship is very high, and there are plenty of pockets. I think I'll buy more Alpha Industries jackets and I definitely recommend it.

Heavy, big and incredibly warm. I’d heard a lot about Alfa products and their solid quality, but as soon as I had a chance to try it, the jacket exceeded all my expectations. The size guide on the website is accurate. I chose L and at 183 cm tall and a 105 cm chest it fits perfectly, even with a thick jumper underneath. Due to the fitted cut you sometimes need to undo the bottom to, for example, tie your shoes, but that's a detail. Overall, I definitely recommend it.

The jacket is warm and nice, but the buttons are very poorly sewn. After just a few days of wearing it to work in normal conditions, I already had to sew on three buttons and had to reinforce all the others because the factory stitching didn't ensure they would stay on.

The jacket is very warm, yet not heavy. I've already used it for the third winter and it still looks like new, everything works flawlessly. The two-way zip is useful when driving a small car. When it comes to washing, I once had it dry-cleaned, but now I've chosen to wash it in the machine – Nikwax Tech Wash, then TX Direct, Samsung washing machine, jacket programme at 30°C, 3 rinses, 800 spins. After washing, the jacket is like new – it hasn't lost its bounce or warmth. Highly recommended, great quality and a timeless cut.

The jacket is very warm, made from high-quality materials and excellently finished – there are no wonky seams or loose threads. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to choose the right size – M was too tight, and L had much too long sleeves.
