Origin and History of the Brand
The roots of Celox Medical trace back to research conducted in Washington State in the 1980s and 1990s, where the use of chitosan for bleeding control was first patented. A key figure in the development of the technology was marine biologist Tim Evans, who assembled a research team on Bainbridge Island to develop a prototype of today's Celox products. After the project was taken over by Medtrade Biopolymers, the first Celox product received FDA approval in 2006.
