Flecktarn is a classic German military camouflage officially introduced for use by the Bundeswehr in 1990. This pattern is based on small, irregular patches in five colors - typically dark green, olive, brown, black, and beige. Due to the distribution of numerous points and blurred boundaries between colors, Flecktarn effectively disperses the user's silhouette contours in forested areas, thickets, and against forest floor backgrounds. The camouflage was designed with European climatic conditions in mind, especially in the temperate zone. Flecktarn remains a standard pattern used by the German army and other military and police formations, and its effectiveness has led to numerous variants and adaptations in other countries.
