I chose this product mainly because of the brand. At first, I felt that the size was one too small. So far, they have worked well for scraping frozen windows in the car. I also miss a bigger and sturdier loop for attaching the carabiner.
Mechanix Wear ColdWork Canvas Utility Tactical Gloves - Black
Black tactical gloves, made using advanced DuraHide technology. They effectively protect against frost while also shielding hands from abrasions and cuts. The combination of 100g 3M Thinsulate insulation with a soft Sherpa lining traps heat inside the gloves while wicking away moisture, ensuring thermal comfort even in harsh weather conditions.
durable materials, EVA foam, Gunn Cut Finger design
The outer part of the gloves is made from durable canvas with a hydrophobic C6 coating, which repels moisture and provides oil resistance. The knuckles are protected by 3mm EVA foam, effectively absorbing impacts. The palm side features water- and abrasion-resistant leather, made using DuraHide technology. To enhance durability, the gloves use a Gunn Cut Finger construction, which repositions seams in areas prone to wear.
cuff with ribbing
A comfortable cuff with a fabric ribbing ensures a perfect fit around the wrists, providing better protection against cold air penetrating the gloves.
protective standards
The gloves meet the American protective standard ANSI/ISEA 105 at level 4XX in terms of cut, abrasion, and puncture resistance, which means:
- 4: abrasion resistance (on a scale from 1 to 6)
- X: cut resistance (on a scale from A1 to A9)
- X: puncture resistance (on a scale from 0 to 5)
The gloves meet the EN388 protective standard at level 2223X in terms of resistance to mechanical hazards, which means:
- 2: abrasion resistance (on a scale of 0–4)
- 2: cut resistance (on a scale of 0–5)
- 2: tear resistance (on a scale of 0–4)
- 3: puncture resistance (on a scale of 0–4)
- X: cut resistance – TDM test (ISO 13997) (on a scale A–F)
Cold protection complies with the EN511 standard at level 23X, which means:
- 2: resistance to cold air penetration (on a scale of 0–4)
- 3: resistance to contact cold (on a scale of 0–4)
- X: water penetration resistance (0 or 1)
In the ANSI/ISEA 105 standard, abrasion durability is rated on a scale of 1 to 6 and refers to the number of cycles the material can withstand before wear. Cut resistance is classified on a scale of A1 to A9 (from the lowest to the highest level of protection). Puncture resistance is rated on a scale of 0 to 5 and indicates the force required to puncture the surface of the glove with a sharp spike (does not apply to needle punctures).
The scales specified in the EN388 and EN511 standards define the level of glove protection: a value of 0 indicates no protection, while the highest values (4, 5) indicate the maximum level of resistance. In the case of water penetration resistance, 0 indicates penetration and 1 indicates no penetration.
In the TDM (ISO 13997) test method, letter markings are used, where A indicates the lowest level of protection, and F the highest.
The X marking indicates that a given parameter was not tested or is not applicable.

I don't understand the popularity of Mechanix gloves. I have tested many models and almost always the thumb was too large. These gloves are stiff as if covered in concrete. I decided to go with the tactical 5.11 Competition Primaloft Insulated gloves and those are much better. Mechanix produces durable gloves, but their sizing and practicality leave much to be desired.

Very warm and thick gloves, perfect for frost – another successful purchase of Mechanix gloves. They have a comfortable, soft cuff that is easy to tuck under a jacket sleeve. Splash resistant, though not fully waterproof. Highly recommend!
-
At -10 degrees in dry conditions, the gloves performed great. I didn't have a chance to test their water resistance. They're very warm, but you need to choose the right size – mine differed from summer Mechanix models (from M to XL).
-
The gloves seem solid, but for me they turned out too thick and too tight. XXL size, yet it was hard to put my hand in. I advise trying them on in a physical store before buying.
-
The gloves are well made, well stitched, and thoughtfully designed. They have a specific cold resistance rating – that's important. For me, they work at temperatures down to -15 degrees, even during long hikes, and they don't soak through. I like the cuff instead of a wide ending, but that's a matter of taste. A downside is the incorrect description on the website regarding touchscreen compatibility – it doesn't work with these gloves. They are quite thick, so not suitable for very precise tasks.

Very warm and thick gloves, perfect for frost. Another great pair from Mechanix. They have a comfortable, soft cuff that's easy to hide under your jacket sleeve. They are splash-resistant, but not fully waterproof. I'm very satisfied with the purchase and recommend them.
-
Unfortunately, they're not suitable for frosty days. At -5 degrees, my hands get cold after just 10 minutes, at -1 after twenty. Old, market gloves have similar insulation.
-
These are my first gloves that are this warm. The thick filling can make gripping a bit difficult, but at -5 degrees and in the wind, my hands were well protected from the cold.
-
Very warm, perform excellently in severe frosts. They do not soak through.
-
Great gloves – very comfortable and warm. Unfortunately, they're not suitable for snow, as they soak through, but other than that, they're excellent.
-
It's a very good brand, I already have two pairs myself which I use intensively and they work great. This time I bought them for my son – so far he's very happy, they're very warm and well designed. I recommend them.
-
Exceptionally warm, perfect for frost.
-
Warm, lightweight, and carefully made.
-
Solid and warm gloves, they have a practical cuff instead of Velcro. I recommend them.
