Temperatures and usage conditions
Trondeland sleeping bag temperature classifications as per EN 13537 standard:
- T-max: 14 C – the maximum temperature at which one can sleep in the bag without experiencing overheating,
- T-comfort: -3 C – the coldest temperature where a woman can comfortably sleep through the night,
- T-limit: -9 C – the lowest temperature at which a man can sleep without discomfort,
- T-extreme: -29 C – the absolute lowest temperature that can be survived inside the sleeping bag. Not intended for frequent use.
210T Rip-Stop polyester, polyamide lining
The outer layer is constructed from 210T Rip-Stop polyester, offering excellent resistance to abrasion and tearing. Inside, it features a finish of 190T polyamide. Designed in a basin shape, the footbox enhances natural foot positioning and boosts insulation in that section. An internal pocket accommodates small items, and loops are available for securing an additional thermal liner.
MICROfill Super-Therm insulation
The sleeping bag features MICROfill Super-Therm synthetic insulation, renowned for being lightweight and exceptionally soft. Its microfiber composition ensures significant loft and efficient thermal insulation. Even after numerous washes, the material maintains its qualities.
Right-side zipper, Anti-Bite system
The model features a two-way zipper positioned on the right side, enabling complete opening from both the top and bottom. A fluorescent puller enhances nighttime zipper operation. The Anti-Bite system ensures the fabric doesn't become trapped in the zipper. An internal thermal baffle provides extra protection against heat loss.
Integrated hood, DUO drawcord, thermal collar
The three-dimensional hood provides excellent head protection and minimizes heat loss. Its structure also acts as a defense against wind and moisture. The DUO drawcord features a combination of elastic and webbing – the elastic permits movement without needing adjustment, while the back webbing allows rapid width modifications, which is particularly advantageous at night. The thermal collar, designed as a down-filled tube with a drawcord at shoulder level, effectively restricts cold air from entering the bag.

Practical design ensures easy portability and storage. When folded, the sleeping bag measures 38 x 24 cm and weighs 2000 g, making it perfect for extended hikes and journeys.

The sleeping bag retains heat quite well, but for someone my size (I'm 178 cm tall, on the border of MID and XL), it's fairly snug. Unfortunately, the sleeping bag is heavy and doesn't compress well. Rolling and stuffing it into the bag is quite a challenge, as it often slips out. Overall, it's a warm but heavy and large sleeping bag for a base camp.

Thoughtful design and matches the declared thermal properties. At +8°C, it was enough just to cover up with it. Previous Fiord Nansen models with similar insulation were also well-made, but this one is even more reliable in terms of thermal performance.
