Backpack rain covers

If you've looked here, it's highly likely that you've been surprised by unexpected rain during a trip to the woods or during other circumstances. Maybe you kept important documents in your backpack or a severe downpour drenched your backpack to the bone? Here is the simplest yet best solution - backpack covers. Below you will find our comments on what to pay special attention to when choosing a backpack cover for your hiking backpack and more.

Who should be interested in backpack covers? Especially people who spend a lot of time outdoors. Of course, cyclists or runners don't need the sun to train and inclement weather often doesn't bother them, but during longer workouts it is necessary to stock up on the required amount of food - no one would want to eat a soggy banana thirty kilometers from home. A waterproof backpack cover will protect food from getting wet. In addition, fabric backpacks soaked with water get heavier and cause discomfort on the back. Another group is people who commute daily by bicycle or electric scooter. They are the ones who are particularly vulnerable to rain and inclement weather, as they have to travel the road to work absolutely every day. Such people's backpacks often carry important documents or laptops in addition to sandwiches, which could get damaged without a waterproof backpack cover. The obvious group is, of course, hikers, especially those traversing mountains. The weather at high altitudes is often unpredictable, so it's always a good idea to carry some sort of moisture protection.

This is a very practical and inexpensive solution that everyone should have on their equipment. Nowadays, some manufacturers include backpack covers included right away with the model you buy, but this is not yet the norm, so it's worth asking the seller before you buy whether a particular model has a dedicated waterproof backpack cover, as they are often hidden in tiny pockets inside, so they are easy to overlook. It's also a good idea to use these tiny pockets for the most water-sensitive small items, as they are most often placed on the bottom or in other places unaffected by moisture.

The most important parameter you need to pay close attention to when looking at backpack covers is their size. They are usually labeled either in S, M, L, XL values - or in liter references, i.e. 10 l, 30 l and above. Most of them are fairly flexible, so you can assume that a cover for a 30-liter hiking backpack should also accommodate one with a liter of 35 liters, but the easiest way to choose the right cover is to try it on at a stationary store or get a few different ones depending on your backpacks. Most of the backpacks on the market have compression straps to minimize their size depending on the amount of stuff we need to choose for our next trip.

At MILITARY.EU you will find a wide selection of different backpack covers depending on your needs. They are usually produced from durable nylon - depending on the model, they can also be sewn in Rip-Stop technology to increase their resistance to mechanical damage. Thanks to modern solutions such as elastic pullers, you can easily adjust the size of the cover to any size of backpack you are currently using. We continue to collaborate with well-known companies in the outdoor market such as Rockland, Fjord Nansen and Wisport, which provide superbly optimized rain protection accessories.

What could be another use for a waterproof backpack cover? During survival, it is a great reservoir for rainwater, or placed on a bush it will be great for collecting water from the morning dew. It is also useful as an emergency pocket for collected gifts of the forest such as mushrooms, berries or fire starter. This one always needs to stay dry if it is to do its job, and the cover is great for protecting it from getting wet.
