Origin and beginnings of the brand
The founder of Fjällräven was Åke Nordin, who grew up in the north of Sweden, in the region of Örnsköldsvik. The brand was established in 1960, driven by the need to create a comfortable and spacious backpack suitable for long expeditions in the harsh conditions of Scandinavian nature. The first prototype backpack was handmade by Nordin using his mother's sewing machine and his father's tools. The company officially began operating in a small red barn, where the first product was developed—a lightweight and durable backpack with an aluminum frame.
