Esbit

Esbit is a renowned German brand specializing in the production of outdoor equipment, particularly stoves, thermoses, and solid fuel in tablet form. Its products are widely used by outdoor enthusiasts, as well as by the military and professionals working in the field.

Origin and Beginnings of the Brand

The beginnings of the Esbit brand date back to 1936 when German engineer Erich Schumm developed and introduced to the market solid fuel based on urotropine (hexamine), intended for heating meals and drinks in field conditions. The name "Esbit" is an acronym from the German "Erich Schumm Brennstoff in Tablettenform," meaning "Schumm's fuel in tablet form." In 1949, Esbit Compagnie GmbH was established in Hamburg, initially engaged in exporting Schumm's products. The company has always been run as a family enterprise and remains in the hands of successive generations to this day.

Development and History

Esbit brand products quickly gained popularity due to their simplicity, reliability, and effectiveness. During World War II, Esbit stoves and fuel were included in the equipment of the German army and were later also used by Allied forces. In the following decades, the brand systematically expanded its range, introducing new stove models, larger formats of fuel tablets, and a wide range of outdoor accessories. In the 2000s, the management of the company was passed to the third generation of the family, allowing for further development and modernization of the assortment while maintaining traditional values and quality.
