The glasses are very comfortable, they hold well during running and movement – they don't fall off or slip. The price is adequate for the quality of workmanship and ballistic protection. If someone doesn't need polarization, you can buy a cheaper version of the same model. I definitely recommend them.
Wiley X Recon Tactical Sunglasses - Captivate Polarized Black Mirror/Matte Black
Protective glasses with large, rectangular frames that can comfortably accommodate even very large prescription lenses. They offer a light transmission of 13%, and the tinted lenses boost visual comfort while decreasing eye strain. These glasses provide effective protection against impact from flying objects. The product complies with ANSI Z.87.1 and EN166F standards.
The Wiley X brand ranks among the top suppliers of eye protection for the US military, athletes, and outdoor enthusiasts.
Polycarbonate lenses with Captivate technology and T-Shell coating
The polarized lenses crafted from robust Selenite polycarbonate allow 13% of light to pass through. With Captivate technology, the visual experience is elevated through enhanced colors, greater contrast, and superior clarity. To provide improved UVA and UVB protection, the T-Shell coating boosts scratch resistance and prolongs lens life. An oleophobic layer prevents dust, dirt, oil, snow, and water adherence, simplifying the cleaning process.
Durable Triloid frames and HVP technology
The frames, crafted with an ergonomic design, are constructed from impact-resistant Triloid nylon. Their shape guarantees a snug fit, even when using hearing protection or earphones. Non-slip, rubberized temple tips and nose pads ensure a firm grip on the face. Both frames and lenses utilize HVP technology (High Velocity Protection), providing effective eye safety against fast-moving object hazards. Removable side shields deliver extra defense against objects approaching from the sides, beyond the visor’s coverage area.
Standards and certifications
- EN.166F - complies with the European standard for protection against impacts from high-velocity particles (Medium Energy Impact). As specified by the standard, the frame and lenses can endure the impact of a 6 mm steel ball, weighing 0.86 g, at a speed of 162 km/h.
- ANSI Z87.1 - specifies the impact resistance specifications for lenses and frames. The testing procedures cover impacts from a heavy steel object (High Mass) and a high-speed steel ball (High Velocity), ensuring defense against conventional mechanical dangers.
- UV protection - the lenses provide comprehensive protection from UVA/UVB radiation, blocking at least 99.9% of harmful rays.

Selenite visors are made of unbreakable polycarbonate, which provides high visual clarity and UV protection.
T-Shell is a coating on Wiley X glasses that resists scratches, protects lenses from damage and extends their life.
Frames made of Triloid nylon provide lightweight and highly comfortable glasses. Triloid features optimal hardness and is highly resistant to impacts and falls.
Captivate lens technology is an advanced filter system used in sunglasses that aims to improve the quality of vision by filtering out harmful light and improving color perception and contrast.
The Oleophobic coating repels dirt, oil, water and other substances, so the lenses stay cleaner and easier to maintain. The technology makes the lenses more durable and comfortable to wear.
EN166 is a European standard for optical requirements and mechanical protection for glasses and goggles. Optical requirements include light transmission and diffusion, refractive properties, heat and UV resistance, corrosion and ignition. Mechanical protection is the resistance to object impact, within which there are 4 levels designated by the letters S, F, B and A, where S is the least protection and A is the highest.
Z87.1 standard developed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for the durability of eye protectors. The standard includes two types of tests (3 tests) for the impact resistance of the lens and the stability of its seating in the frame: resistance to High Mass and High Velocity objects.
According to this standard, the frame and visor of the glasses can withstand the impact of a 6.35 mm diameter steel BBs traveling at 45 m/s (164.6 km/h).
