Very good radio, it's an interesting option compared to the often recommended Baofengs for beginners. I think it's worth choosing TYT and paying a bit more for better quality. An additional advantage is that the radio is unlocked right away and has the latest software. I definitely recommend it!

The UV88 PMR is a portable dual-band radio with a maximum power of 5 watts, equipped with a USB-C charging port. It features a DTMF keypad, dual LCD screen, and built-in flashlight.
Dual Watch function, CTCSS and DCS tones
The main feature of this radio is the Dual Watch function, which allows listening to two channels simultaneously. This enables monitoring of two different frequencies, with priority given to the frequency receiving an incoming call. The TH-UV88 radio includes CTCSS and DCS and a simple encryption function - scrambler.
PTT button, Kenwood connector, programming, VOX function
The radio includes a PTT - push-to-talk button. The Kenwood standard connector allows for the connection of headphones with a microphone, dedicated micro speakers, or hearing protectors. The UV88 model allows programming from the keypad or through a computer using a special USB cable (not included in the set). The software offers many functions that facilitate grouping and identification. The VOX function allows voice-activated transmission without the need to use the PTT button.
FM radio
The integrated FM radio allows you to listen to your favorite radio stations during breaks from conversations. While the FM radio is active, the UV88 continues to monitor channels, and in the event of an incoming call, switches to its reception.
