Woodland, often referred to as U.S. Woodland or M81, is a timeless camouflage design introduced to the US Armed Forces in the early 1980s, inspired by the earlier ERDL camouflage. For more than twenty years, it served as the standard camouflage pattern for the US military until the close of the first decade of the 21st century. Distinguished by its large, irregular patches in shades of green, brown, beige, and black, it offers excellent camouflage and concealment, particularly in forested areas. Its effectiveness and worldwide recognition have led to the creation of numerous variations, which are now used in over 60 uniform formations globally. The pattern has also significantly influenced popular culture, transitioning from military use to everyday fashion.
