Snugpak Spearhead Jacket - Olive

Insulated jacket in olive drab, designed for use in winter conditions. The combination of lightweight Paratex fabric and synthetic Softie insulation reduces heat loss and helps maintain thermal comfort in cold surroundings.

The jacket effectively insulates against the cold in sub-zero temperatures down to -15 degrees Celsius, while remaining comfortable to wear and not restricting movement. The lightweight construction performs well during hiking, camping, field work, and everyday winter use.

The outer layer is made from lightweight Paratex material, which reduces wind penetration and protects the synthetic insulation from direct contact with moisture. The smooth fabric surface makes it easier to put on and take off additional clothing layers, while also reducing the risk of the material catching on other garments.

The low weight of the material helps maintain a favorable ratio of thermal protection to jacket weight. The outer fabric is finished with DWR waterproofing, causing water droplets to run off the surface. The coating supports protection against light rain, drizzle, and brief contact with damp ground.

Thermal insulation is provided by synthetic Softie fill developed by Snugpak. The insulation fibers form a three-dimensional structure that traps air between the outer material and the lining. This reduces heat exchange with the surroundings and slows down body cooling during exposure to low temperatures.

The insulation provides thermal comfort in temperatures down to -10 degrees Celsius, while -15 degrees Celsius is the jacket’s limit temperature for use. The fill features low weight and compressibility. This makes it possible to reduce the jacket’s volume during transport without giving up the insulation needed for winter conditions.

The jacket is equipped with a practical pocket layout arranged on the outside and inside of the construction:

• 2 deep lower pockets with zipper closure

• 1 internal pocket with zipper closure

The lower pockets hold a phone, wallet, keys, or gloves. Their interior is finished with soft material, improving comfort when warming your hands.

The concealed chest pocket works well for carrying documents and small items that require extra protection. The zippered internal pocket allows you to store the most important accessories closer to the body and reduces the risk of them accidentally falling out.

The front of the jacket is closed with a zipper from the renowned YKK brand. The closure allows the jacket to be put on and taken off quickly, while also enabling adjustment of the protection level depending on the temperature and intensity of movement.

The bottom edge is equipped with drawstrings for circumference adjustment. The adjustment reduces drafts from below and helps keep warm air inside the jacket. The slightly extended back increases lower back coverage when bending over and working in a leaned-forward position.

The model is equipped with a detachable hood with a full layer of insulation. The hood provides additional head coverage in wind and frost, and its construction allows it to be worn over a cap or a thin clothing layer.

A stiffened visor is used at the edge of the hood. It reduces water running onto the face and improves protection against the wind. The hood fit can be adjusted with drawstrings placed on the sides.

The high collar shields the neck and connects with the front closure. At the top of the zipper there is a chin guard. The inner side of the collar is finished with a polyester lining that improves comfort when wearing the jacket with the zipper fully closed.

The sleeves stand out with a construction that ensures full freedom of movement. Their lower part is equipped with adjustable velcro closures. They allow the cuff width to be adjusted to the wrists and help reduce cold air from getting under the jacket. The adjustment also makes it easier to fit the cuffs to gloves and additional clothing layers.

Thanks to the use of lightweight material and synthetic Softie insulation, the jacket can be packed into the included transport sack. When compressed, it takes up less space in a backpack, bag, or luggage, making it a good extra layer to take on trips.

The sack makes it easier to transport and store the jacket. After unpacking, the construction regains its volume, allowing the insulating properties of the fill to be used.
