Opinel

MILITARY is a premium dealer of Opinel.

Opinel is a French brand with a rich history dating back to 1890, originating in the Savoy region. Its creator, Joseph Opinel, designed the first pocket knife, which quickly became a symbol of everyday use thanks to its simplicity and functionality. In 1955, the company developed the Virobloc locking mechanism, later modernized, which remains a distinctive feature of its products to this day. In 1985, the brand was recognized by the Victoria and Albert Museum, which included one of Opinel's models in its list of the 100 best-designed objects in the world. The company's products also found their way into the MoMA collection in New York. Production is carried out in Chambery with care for the environment – the wood is sourced from French forests and the resulting waste is used to heat the production facilities. The range includes folding tools, kitchen utensils, cutlery, and whetstones, which have become synonymous with durability, simplicity, and the French lifestyle.

In the Garden set, you don't have to twist the viroblock for the cutlery to be stable, whereas in the classic model No. 8 you have to close the viroblock—a minor note. It's a very practical solution.

A very practical dinner set, especially worth buying together with the Opinel No. 8—they make a great duo. I have the Opinel 8 Garden and the included cloth fits it perfectly—it's a cool feature.

A great accessory for the Opinel knife—it works well for camping, bushcraft, and everyday use (because why let it go to waste :D). The cloth is also practical, especially since it serves as a case. The price-to-quality ratio is satisfactory.

This is a great addition to the Opinel No. 8 knife. The set comes with a cloth where you can pack everything, though with the cloth, the whole set is a little less convenient. I prefer using it without the cloth than carrying it in my pocket, and the fork and spoon are a practical, compact addition, e.g., for a backpack. Every Opinel fan will like it.

The cutlery is surprisingly comfortable to use! The fork has great dimensions, while the spoon seems a bit too small for larger dishes and at the same time slightly too big for smaller ones. However, this is a compromise that provides versatility – you can eat soup and stir coffee with it. I guess it's a matter of getting used to it. The cloth, although not large, works perfectly and also serves as a case for the set. The lock on the knife secures the cutlery very well. The set is more picnic-like than strictly for camping, but it's definitely worth its price. The quality of workmanship and materials used is at a very good level.

As soon as I saw this set, I had to buy it for my Opinel. The cutlery fits my knife well. I deduct a star for the imperfect finish on the edges of the spoon and fork—they're not sharp, but look a bit unattractive; at this price they could have done a better job. The cloth will hold both the cutlery and the knife, but again there's a small flaw—the elastic with loop is not exactly in the corner, it's shifted to the side.

Recently I became a fan of the Opinel brand and I've been exploring their new products. I was curious how this set would perform in practice—it's a very convenient must-have. The only downside is that if you want to use both the knife and fork at the same time, you have to either buy a second Opinel No. 8, or use the fork without mounting it in the handle. I think I'll actually order a second knife :)
