Woodland, also referred to as U.S. Woodland or M81, is a traditional camouflage pattern introduced to the US Armed Forces in the early 1980s, derived from the prior ERDL camouflage. It was the standard pattern used by the US military for more than twenty years, up until the close of the first decade of the 21st century. Characterized by large, irregular patches in shades of green, brown, beige, and black, it offers excellent camouflage and deformation properties, particularly in wooded environments. Due to its effectiveness and worldwide recognition, many variations have emerged, becoming part of over 60 uniform formations globally. This pattern has also significantly influenced popular culture, transitioning from military use to everyday fashion.
