Woodland, also known as U.S. Woodland or M81, is a traditional camouflage design introduced to the US Armed Forces in the early 1980s, inspired by the earlier ERDL pattern. It served as the standard pattern for the US military for more than twenty years, until the close of the first decade of the 21st century. Characterized by large, irregular patches of green, brown, beige, and black, it offers excellent camouflage and distortion capabilities, especially in forested environments. Due to its effectiveness and global recognition, it has led to numerous variations appearing in over 60 uniform designs worldwide. The pattern has also significantly influenced popular culture, transitioning from military use to everyday fashion.
