Leather upper and waterproof membrane
The upper is made of waterproof suede leather. The upper also features mesh elements that increase flexibility and support air circulation. The combination of leather and textile panels helps maintain a balance between protection and freedom of movement.
A waterproof membrane helps limit water from getting inside. At the same time, it supports the removal of some of the moisture that builds up inside the footwear. For this reason, the shoes are suitable for walks and hikes in the rain, on wet paths, and through damp vegetation.
Anatomical barefoot design
The shoes were made according to the principles of the Merrell Barefoot 2 design. The interior was designed so that the foot can assume a more natural position without forcing the heel to sit higher than the toes.
The sole has the same height at the front and rear - 13 mm. This means that the heel is not positioned higher than the toes, which supports a more natural foot strike and makes it easier to control contact with the ground.
The wide front of the shoe gives the toes the space they need to spread naturally while walking. This solution reduces the feeling of pressure and supports the natural function of the foot on uneven terrain.
Quantum Grip sole
Grip is provided by the Merrell Quantum Grip rubber outsole. The rubber compound used and the trail tread ensure stable contact with the ground while walking on varied surfaces.
The multi-directional lug pattern supports traction during ascents, descents, and changes of direction. The tread also reduces contact between the foot and sharp ground elements, providing additional protection during hikes.
The sole is 13 mm high at both the front and the rear, so it does not create a height difference between the heel and the toes. In practice, this means the foot is not set on an inclined platform, as in classic footwear with a higher sole under the heel.
Lining and insole, Cleansport NXT technology
The inside of the shoe is lined with breathable mesh made from 100% recycled materials. The material supports moisture wicking during movement. The integrated EVA foam insole provides light cushioning and increases walking comfort on hard ground. The insole cover is also made of recycled mesh.
The internal EVA construction was developed to reduce footwear weight and provide a softer feel during foot strike. The Cleansport NXT treatment used supports the natural control of unpleasant odor formation.
Lacing system
The fit is adjusted with a classic lacing system that uses metal hooks in the upper part of the upper. This solution makes the shoes easy to put on and take off and allows precise adjustment of lace tension.
