The Straw I model uses a 2-stage purification system that removes a wide range of contaminants found in water. The design combines a Hollow Fiber membrane with a replaceable carbon filter. The first stage is a 0.1-micron Hollow Fiber membrane. Its structure traps bacteria, parasites, microplastics, and solid contaminants such as silt and sand. The second stage is the carbon filter. It is responsible for the reduction of heavy metals and chemicals, as well as improving the taste and odor of the filtered water.

The filter is equipped with a universal thread for bottles with a 28 mm diameter and practical inlet and outlet covers for the filter. A wrist lanyard is included.

The housing is made of durable BPA-free plastic. Its compact size and low weight make it easy to fit the filter into a backpack or bag compartment.
