During severe frosts, e.g. -15 degrees, these gloves do not perform very well. The synthetic material that was supposed to protect against damage becomes hard and it's difficult to grip anything, and even with the gloves on, your fingers feel like they're in a cold metal pipe. So, they are better suited for milder frost.
Mechanix Wear Cold Weather SUB20 Tactical Gloves - Realtree Edge
Winter tactical gloves SUB20 feature realistic Realtree Edge camouflage. They provide excellent protection against cold, abrasions, and cuts.
Synthetic leather with Padlock coating
The palm side of these gloves is crafted from synthetic leather and features a silicone, anti-slip Padlock coating to boost grip security. The embossed trigger finger with extra reinforcement allows for precise firearm manipulation.
3M Thinsulate insulation and Hipora membrane
The 3M Thinsulate 100 g inner insulating layer excels at retaining warmth for superior thermal comfort. Equipped with a waterproof Hipora membrane, it ensures breathability while preventing excessive perspiration. Additional cold protection is offered by the HotHands thermal pocket sewn inside the gloves.
Extended cuffs, snap fasteners and loops for easy carrying
A snug cuff ensures it fits well around the wrists and has been lengthened to improve defense against cold air. Snap fasteners and loops on the wrist make it easy to secure the gloves, simplifying transport and storage.
Touchscreen compatibility
The touchscreen-compatible feature enables the use of mobile devices without taking off the gloves.
EN388-3122XX and EN511 120 Standards
The gloves meet the EN388 protective standard at level 3122XX in terms of resistance to mechanical hazards, which means:
- 3: abrasion resistance (on a scale of 0–4)
- 1: cut resistance (on a scale of 0–5)
- 2: tear resistance (on a scale of 0–4)
- 2: puncture resistance (on a scale of 0–4)
- X: cut resistance – TDM test (ISO 13997) (on a scale of A–F)
- X: impact protection (test passed)
Cold protection complies with the EN511 standard at level 120, which means:
- 1: resistance to cold air penetration (on a scale of 0–4)
- 2: resistance to contact cold (on a scale of 0–4)
- 0: water penetration resistance (0 or 1)
The scales specified in the EN388 and EN511 standards define the level of glove protection: a value of 0 indicates no protection, while the highest values (4, 5) indicate the maximum level of resistance. In the case of water penetration resistance, 0 indicates penetration and 1 indicates no penetration.
In the TDM (ISO 13997) test method, letter markings are used, where A indicates the lowest level of protection, and F the highest.
The X marking indicates that a given parameter was not tested or is not applicable. The P marking indicates that the glove meets the impact protection requirements.

Camouflage Realtree Edge
Realtree Edge is a lifelike camouflage design that blends intricate depictions of foliage, branches, and bark with an abstract backdrop, ultimately breaking up the user's outline both at close range and from afar. Its muted color scheme of grays and browns makes this pattern suitable for year-round use in diverse woodland settings, particularly in environments typical of Central Europe.

The gloves are well-made and use good materials. However, I definitely do not recommend them for temperatures below -5°C, and they are completely unsuitable for stronger frosts. The problem is too weak insulation at the fingertips – fingers get cold quickly, even during a short, 20-minute walk.
-
I definitely recommend these gloves for winter. They are very warm, comfortable, and have anti-slip properties. I bought them with winter sports and cycling in mind for winter days. They work perfectly, and the extended cuff does its job very well. Highly recommended!
-
I highly recommend these gloves – they are very warm, have a pleasant filling, and an effective non-slip surface. Additionally, they look great.
-
These are typical winter gloves – they have a lot of insulation, so it's worth choosing a bigger size. I normally wear L, but XL turned out to be right here. I tested them at -5°C and they were fine. Due to the thick filling, they significantly restrict hand and finger movement. They're not suitable for handling weapons, but fine for tasks like chopping or carrying.
-
I bought them as a gift for my husband because they had great reviews, so I decided to make the purchase. The gloves are rather stiff. I chose a larger size as suggested, but they turned out to be too loose. The quality of workmanship is very good! However, they don't fully protect against severe frost.
-
The gloves are indeed warm, I tested them while working in the orchard during freezing temperatures. At first, they are quite stiff, but they soften up a bit over time. The lining inside could be better made. Putting them on is quite difficult. Overall, I recommend them.
-
The soft lining is pleasant but doesn't fit well, making it hard to put them on. The gloves are very stiff – I hope they become softer over time, since driving a car in them is difficult. At -5°C, they aren't amazingly warm but provide a good grip. They're not suitable for precise work, although they're well made. The long cuffs are a big advantage. The sizing runs small – it's better to pick a larger size. My Ls are a bit tight; maybe they'll stretch with use. For the price – they're quite okay.

The gloves provide good protection against the cold – I tried them at -5°C and they worked well for tasks like carrying wood or chopping with an axe. I don’t recommend them for precise activities. Size M fits smaller hands; if your hands are bigger, pick a larger size, since the insulation takes up some space.
-
Solid, warm gloves. This is already my next purchase of Mechanix brand gloves. They are not exceptional, but good and worth their price. They also proved themselves while skiing. I recommend them.
-
Quality as you would expect from Mechanix – very good, with attention to detail and high-quality materials. Once the correct size is chosen, they offer a secure grip. 100g of excellent insulation gives thermal comfort and the outer material protects against moisture. The product is currently at a very good promotional price.
-
The gloves are very thick and warm; you can even immerse your whole hand in water and your hands will stay dry. However, performing precise tasks is much harder in them, which is an unavoidable drawback for this type of glove.
-
Great gloves – they worked well during a snowstorm in the mountains. The long cuff allows you to tuck the gloves under your jacket sleeve and prevents snow from getting inside. I recommend them.
-
The gloves are very good, though a bit stiff – they don’t work well while driving, and the sizes seem to run large (they could be bigger). However, for winter walks in the forest, they are very functional.

I searched for a long time for the right gloves for working in the forest. I bought these and decided they were worth recommending—they really work. This morning it was -15°C and I was able to work in them very well. I usually wear size L, but as mentioned in other reviews, it's better to choose a bigger size—I can confirm that.
