The Original Morale Patch is crafted from durable 500D Cordura and features the Vegvisir rune compass set against a sea backdrop with legendary Viking ships. The patch's central element is coated with fluorescent, glow-in-the-dark plastic. It is designed with a one-sided Velcro fastener, allowing it to be attached to clothing, backpacks, or gear.

Morale patches are worn by soldiers and various service members alongside their unit-specific patches to "boost morale." They serve as a identifying and unifying element within the group and contribute to soldier humor.
