Levenhuk Kelvin Snap ED Binoculars 8x42

Digital camera binoculars with 42 mm objective lenses, equipped with 8x optical magnification and digital magnification from 1 to 10x available via the mobile app. The design features a roof optical system with ED glass and a full Fully Multi-Coated (FMC) multilayer coating, and the sealing meets the IP65 standard. The model allows you to take photos, record videos, transmit images via Wi‑Fi, and work with mobile devices. The set also includes a case.

ED optical system and Fully Multi-Coated coating

The optical system is based on ED glass, which reduces chromatic aberration and helps achieve an image with natural color reproduction. The eyepieces are built from 4 elements in 3 groups, similarly to the objective lenses. The optical elements are covered with a full Fully Multi-Coated (FMC) multilayer coating, which reduces light loss and helps achieve a bright, clear image.

The optical magnification is 8x. Digital magnification from 1 to 10x is also available via the mobile app, allowing for a maximum magnification of up to 80x.

The field of view is 7.2 degrees, or 131 m at a distance of 1000 m, and the minimum focusing distance is 4 m. The eyepiece diopter adjustment operates within a range of 4 diopters in both directions, while focusing is central.

The exit pupil diameter is 5.36 mm, defining the diameter of the light beam reaching the eye. A twilight factor of 18.33 and relative brightness of 28.73 describe the system parameters related to observation in lower light conditions. The eye relief is 17 mm, and the resolution threshold is 5.2 arcseconds.

Photo and video recording, Wi‑Fi

Image recording is handled by a color CMOS sensor in a 4:3 format. The camera binoculars allow photos to be taken at up to 16 Mpix in JPEG format and videos to be recorded in MP4 format. Video footage can be saved in 2K or Full HD quality, including resolutions of 2560 x 1440 and 1920 x 1080 at 30 fps.

The built-in Wi‑Fi 2.4 GHz module allows live image transmission to mobile devices within a range of approximately 10–15 m in line of sight. Using the Viipulse app, it is possible to simultaneously stream the image to up to 3 smartphones running Android or iOS, as well as take photos, record videos, and use digital magnification.

The device is equipped with a microphone and speaker, a playback function, automatic shutoff after 5 minutes, and an option to add a watermark with the date and time to the image. Files are saved to a TF card with a capacity of up to 128 GB.

Sealed IP65 design and nitrogen filling

The body is made of black plastic. The airtight design is filled with nitrogen, which reduces the risk of internal optical elements fogging up during temperature changes.

The IP65 protection rating means complete protection against dust and resistance to water jets. The device operating temperature range is from -10 to +50 degrees Celsius.

Twist-up eyecups make it easier to adapt the binoculars to the viewing method, also for people who wear glasses. The interpupillary distance can be set within a range of 56–73 mm. The body has a standard 1/4" thread, which allows mounting on a tripod using the adapter included in the set.

The camera binoculars weigh 530 g, and their dimensions are 14 x 7 x 12 cm. The neck strap makes the device easier to carry, and the included case protects it during transport.

4000 mAh battery and up to 10 hours of operation

The camera binoculars are powered by a built-in 4000 mAh lithium-ion battery, providing up to 10 hours of operation. Charging takes place via the USB-C port using a 5 V, 2 A power adapter. The power adapter is sold separately.

CMOS feature
CMOS
CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor) matrix is a type of photosensitive matrix used in cameras, camcorders, night vision binoculars and other image capturing devices. Its task is to convert light coming through the lens into electrical signals, which are then converted into digital images. CMOS matrices are characterized by low power consumption and high readout speed, making them a popular choice for modern optical systems.
ED Lenses feature
ED Lenses
ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lenses are optical elements made of low-dispersion glass, used in high-end optical devices. Their main function is to reduce chromatic aberration, which is the splitting of light manifested by colored borders around contrasting objects. With ED lenses, the image is clearer, sharper and has better color reproduction - especially at the edges of the field of view and when observing high-contrast objects.
FMC - Fully MultiCoated feature
FMC - Fully MultiCoated
FMC (Fully MultiCoated) is a technology used in optical devices to apply multi-layer anti-reflective coatings to all lens surfaces in contact with air. This solution effectively reduces reflections and light loss, improving brightness, contrast and image clarity. The increased light transmission translates into a sharper and more detailed image, which is crucial when observing in limited light conditions.
