I bought it as a backup. The original part included with the tool worked well as both a fire starter and a whistle. Typical Leatherman quality, nothing more to say.

Small, but it fulfills all the declared tasks.

I bought it as a spare. The whistle is loud, while the fire starter is okay, although access is a bit difficult due to the casing.
