This wasn’t my first Helikon-Tex product. I own everything from Fleece Beanies and Courier Bags to Pilgrim Duracanvas Anoraks. So I will acknowlege that I am a fan that appreciates the intelligent design and features built into a superior quality product. I may be biased. I wasn’t looking for a new insulated garment when I was checking out the redesigned Helikon-Tex website over the Easter weekend. I was just curious. I’ve been wearing a Patagonia Nano Air Ultralight Pullover. I’ve found the Nano Air Ultralight Pullover to be very good for it’s intended purpose, a cool temperature cover-up for high output activities. It just lacked a few design features before I could give it a perfect. The Helikon-Tex Wolfhound Hoodie Light fixed that. The Wolfhound benefits from greater insulation, 40g/m vs the 20g/m so it is more comfortable during less than high output exertion and more sedentary pursuits. The jacket still stuffs into itself and features an equipment loop to for attachment. If I was the designer I would have placed a Helikon-Tex Lizard logo to show outside once it is stuffed itself into the top pocket. Easier stuffing is accomplished by stuffing into the front kangaroo pocket. Stuffed it makes a great pillow. Temperature is regulated through manipulating the generous neck zipper (not two-way) and the elasticized draw cord at the bottom. The fit is true to size and I still check the sizing chart before ordering. Jacket is very comfortable. Where does it need improvement...? Maybe gear loops inside the kangaroo pocket, the aforementioned lack of a two-way zipper closure and a stow away into a collar hood. Overall the Wolfhound is definitely an upgrade. Ordered over the Easter weekend. The jacket arrived in the USA in days and even with express shipping and the new import duties and fees it was still a savings over the alternative fashion brands.

Anorak jacket in grey that effectively protects against cold, wind, and light rain. It can be worn in 2 ways - as outerwear during transitional seasons or as an additional insulating layer. The outer material is coated with a hydrophobic coating.
The insulation is created by synthetic filling with a grammage of 43 g/m2. The model includes 3 practical pockets: two classic hip pockets and one external chest pocket. The light construction and low weight allow for convenient carrying of the jacket in a backpack or bag. It is useful both during field trips and in everyday use.
WindPack nylon material, polyester lining
The outer material is made of nylon WindPack fabric, covered with a protective hydrophobic coating, which effectively limits absorption and protects against dirt, increasing resistance to adverse field conditions. The polyester lining provides optimal thermal comfort. The jacket fastens with a zipper of the half-zip type from the renowned YKK brand.
Synthetic filling
The insulation is provided by high-quality synthetic filling with a grammage of 43g /m2, which retains heat even when wet. The insulation is characterized by its low weight and good compression parameters.
