Helikon-Tex Recon Smock DuraCanvas Heavy Jacket - Black
A black parka-type jacket based on the classic construction of a military smock - an extended outer garment with a looser fit and an expanded pocket layout, used among others by SAS units in the British Army. The design was developed for carrying first-line equipment without the need to place all of it on a belt. The jacket is made from durable DuraCanvas Heavy fabric.
The densely woven fabric provides wind resistance and is suitable for wax impregnation. The design is complemented by 11 pockets, underarm ventilation zippers, durable YKK zippers, and an adjustable hood, cuffs, and bottom hem. Elbow reinforcements increase the durability of these areas during intensive use.
durable DuraCanvas Heavy fabric
The jacket is made from DuraCanvas Heavy fabric with a composition of 65% polyester and 35% cotton and a grammage of 225 g/m2. The densely woven, reinforced structure was prepared for intensive field use. The fabric provides wind resistance and can be wax impregnated.
11 practical pockets
The model is equipped with 11 pockets positioned on the front, sleeves, sides, and back. This layout makes it possible to distribute equipment across different parts of the torso and carry part of the gear directly on the jacket instead of placing the entire load on a belt. Selected pockets feature loops for securing small items with cord, helping protect them from being lost.
4 roomy front pockets, closed with storm flaps and Canadian buttons, are intended for larger pieces of equipment. 2 flat chest pockets with zippers allow quick access to maps, a notebook, a compass, documents, and small items. The shoulder pockets can be expanded to accommodate additional equipment.
2 side pockets at waist height fit a canteen, radio, or first aid kit. They are also intended for warming the hands. At the back there is a large pocket for soft gear such as a poncho or a lightweight insulated jacket. Zippers placed on both sides allow access to the interior from the right or left side without removing the jacket, while a mesh layer on the back side supports airflow.
Zipper and buttoned storm flap
The main closure consists of a zipper and a flap fastened with Canadian buttons that covers it. The zipper allows the jacket to be closed quickly, while the additional buttons protect the closure line. In warmer conditions, the front can be fastened using only the buttons, leaving more space for airflow.
underarm ventilation zippers
Long ventilation zippers positioned under the arms allow air circulation to be regulated depending on the intensity of effort and usage conditions. Opening them helps release excess heat during marching or intensive work, while closing them reduces drafts in cooler conditions.
adjustable hood and velcro panels
The roomy hood is equipped with a triple adjustment system that allows its position and volume to be adapted to the head and usage conditions. Thanks to the adjustment, the hood can be stabilized better during movement and its slipping or excessive shifting can be reduced. The jacket sleeves feature velcro panels for attaching emblems or patches.
Sleeve adjustment and reinforcements
Multi-point circumference adjustment and bottom hem adjustment allow the jacket to be fitted to the body shape and layers worn underneath. Tightening these areas helps reduce drafts and stabilize the jacket during movement.
Velcro-adjustable cuffs allow the sleeve width to be adjusted to the wrists or gloves being worn. Elbow reinforcements increase their resistance during field use.
