Very good jacket with a pleasantly loose fit. That is exactly what I particularly like about it, since you can easily wear a sweater or a fleece jacket underneath. There are two things I would still like: an integrated stuff pocket so the jacket can be packed away compactly, and a way to stow the hood in the collar when it is not in use. Otherwise, I am very satisfied – clear recommendation!

To start with, I’ll give it two stars for the cut, the modest wind protection, and the overall fit of the jacket. I’m 185 cm tall, weigh 120 kg, and size 3XL fits well, even when I’m wearing a cotton sweatshirt underneath, and the “tactical belly” is not especially noticeable. The jacket is not tight, it doesn’t pull, and it sits exactly as it should, while the front pocket remains practical and it’s not immediately obvious that there’s something in it. The high fastening effectively shields the neck from the wind, and when unzipped it provides sensible ventilation. The hood adjustment is simple, it sits well, and the hood itself is the right size and genuinely deserves to be called a hood. It compresses very well and, in my opinion, will fit without any problem into the pocket of most cargo trousers, and in some there would even still be a bit of room left. As for waterproofing, I tested the jacket twice in the rain. The first time, it was a light drizzle during a walk lasting around 10–15 minutes. The second time, I stood for about 4 minutes at a stop in heavier, wind-driven rain while waiting for the tram. In both situations, the hood practically absorbed water instead of repelling it, and during the heavier rain the material also got soaked through on the shoulders and back. Perhaps the PU coating really is there, but the claimed 10,000 mm waterproof rating sounds more like theory than practice. There seems to be some kind of DWR, because the droplets stayed on the surface for a while, but without much effect. Militaria.pl once had a cheap no-name hardshell where the DWR worked really well — even after several washes, water still ran off it without any problem. To sum up: as an emergency windbreaker, the jacket does the job, but as rain protection it completely failed for me. Maybe I got a weaker specimen, but when it comes to Helikon, at this point I’m only leaning toward their trousers, and even then mostly when bought on sale, because I get the impression that lately the quality has stopped keeping up with the price. It’s a shame, because their ideas and solutions are genuinely interesting.

Good rain jacket to always have with you. Light and compact, easy to throw on quickly thanks to the wide opening. The fit is rather loose for slim people. At around 40€, the price is okay; you shouldn't pay more for this jacket.
