Helikon-Tex Boonie Hat Mk2 Hat - wz.93 Pantera PL Woodland

Lightweight military hat of the boonie hat type in wz.93 Pantera PL Woodland camouflage, designed for tactical operations, patrols, and outdoor activities during warm and hot days. It is made from flexible, quick-drying PolyCotton Stretch Rip-Stop fabric with a grammage of 220 g/m2, enhanced with NIR/IRR technology that reduces silhouette contrast in the near-infrared range. The design features an upper velcro panel for identification markers, mesh-covered ventilation holes, and a band with loops for attaching additional natural camouflage.

Polycotton stretch rip-stop, NIR/IRR technology

The hat is built on a classic design with a wide brim that shields the face and neck from sunlight and light rain, while the number of fabric layers has been reduced to lower the total weight to just 85 g. It is made from PolyCotton Stretch Rip-Stop fabric with a grammage of 220 g/m2 and a composition of 50% polyester, 48% cotton, and 2% elastane, ensuring high breathability, abrasion resistance, and two-way stretch. The Rip-Stop weave protects the fabric structure from tearing in dense terrain, while NIR/IRR technology (Near Infrared / Infrared Reflective) causes the fabric to absorb and reflect radiation at a level similar to the forest environment, reducing visibility under night vision.

Ventilation, velcro panels, and markings

The hat features ventilation holes protected by fine mesh, which improve air circulation and reduce head overheating during exertion in high temperatures. At the top, there is a velcro panel (velcro) intended for quick attachment of chem lights or IR identification markers (IFF). Around the hat runs an integrated camouflage band that forms functional loops, made in a camouflage pattern matching the rest of the headwear, which helps reduce the formation of distinct, revealing lines on the silhouette.

contrasting interior, mounting loop, loops

The inside of the hat is finished with material in a contrasting color, allowing it to be quickly turned inside out to signal position or call for help in emergency situations. Above the brim, a band has been sewn in, allowing handy small items to be attached (e.g. insect repellent, camouflage elements) or small pieces of equipment, such as a flashlight with a clip, to be securely fastened. Additionally, the model is equipped with a mounting loop used to lash the hat directly next to the Raid combat shirt while marching.

wz.93 Pantera PL Woodland camouflage

The wz.93 Pantera PL Woodland camouflage pattern is the camouflage currently used by the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland - the first camouflage pattern designed and introduced for widespread use in the Third Polish Republic. The 1993 pattern offers a combination of mimetic and disruptive properties thanks to the use of irregular patches of different sizes. The color scheme based on green, brown, and black was adapted to the conditions of Polish forests, making “Pantera” an apt choice for operations in domestic terrain. Uniforms in this camouflage are also part of the basic equipment of students in Military Uniformed Classes.

IRR feature
IRR

Materials with IRR (Infrared Reflective) properties are designed to maximize the absorption and minimize the mission of infrared radiation, which is important for camouflage and avoiding detection by observation devices such as night vision devices.

Rip-Stop feature
Rip-Stop

Rip-Stop weave protects the fabric from abrasions and tears. It is characterized by additional threads woven in at regular intervals, forming a mesh-like pattern. It provides high strength to the fabric, increases resistance to mechanical damage, especially tears.

NIR (Near Infrared Reflectance) feature
NIR (Near Infrared Reflectance)
NIR (Near Infrared Reflectance) is a material property of controlled reflection of radiation in the near-infrared (780-2500 nm) range, used primarily in tactical clothing and equipment. NIR-treated fabrics are designed to reduce the thermal emission and reflection of IR radiation, allowing the material's surface temperature to be kept close to ambient. This reduces the risk of detection of the wearer by electronic-optical surveillance systems, including night vision and infrared sensors. NIR technology significantly improves the effectiveness of camouflage in combat and low-light conditions.
PolyCotton Stretch feature
PolyCotton Stretch
PolyCotton Stretch is a modern fabric that is a combination of cotton and polyester with the addition of elastic fibers, most often elastane. Such a set combines the breathability and softness of cotton with the durability and resilience of polyester and elasticity that provides freedom of movement. This material is pleasant to the touch, dries faster than pure cotton, creases less and fits better.
