Flecktarn is a traditional German military camouflage design, officially adopted by the Bundeswehr in 1990. This pattern consists of small, irregularly shaped spots in five distinct colors—commonly dark green, olive, brown, black, and beige. Due to the distribution of numerous dots and the blurred edges between colors, Flecktarn effectively breaks up the wearer's silhouette in forested areas, as well as in brushland or against a forest underbrush backdrop. It was crafted for European weather conditions, particularly the temperate zone. To this day, Flecktarn remains a standard design for the German army and is utilized by other military and police forces. Its success has resulted in various adaptations and versions in different countries.
