Coleman Supercomfort 7.5 Single Self-Infating Sleeping Mat

A single-person self-inflating mat made from a durable and abrasion-resistant blend of nylon and polyester provides solid support during overnight stays in the field. The filling of soft polyester foam ensures effective insulation from the cold and uneven ground, contributing to high user comfort. Intuitive operation is facilitated by a single valve located at the front, which, when opened, allows the mat to automatically inflate in about 10 minutes. The set includes compression straps and a cover.

R-Value thermal insulation coefficient

The model is characterized by a thermal insulation coefficient of R-Value 7.8, determined in accordance with the ASTM F3340-18 standard. This parameter describes the degree of insulation from the ground - a higher value means more effective reduction of heat loss.

Interpretation of R-Value values used in the outdoor industry:

  • 1.0-2.0 - suitable for summer conditions (night temperatures above approx. 10 deg. C),
  • 2.1-3.5 - spring-summer-autumn use (approx. 0-10 deg. C),
  • 3.6-5.0 - cool conditions, around 0 deg. C and negative temperatures up to approx. -5 /-10 deg. C,
  • 5.1-7.0 - winter use, temperatures below 0 deg. C,
  • above 7.0 - winter conditions with increased insulation requirements.

Actual thermal comfort depends on the sleeping system (sleeping bag, clothing), type of ground, and the user's personal resistance to cold.

    The mat was purchased on sale, which made the price-to-quality ratio favorable. The first inflation took about 20 minutes, the next ones only about 10 minutes. You can also use the bag to increase the pressure—one use makes the mat very firm, almost like Styrofoam. For me, that's a bit too hard, but just releasing some air makes it more comfortable. It provides fantastic insulation from the cold and uneven ground. Although it's not heavy, due to its size it's rather suitable for traveling by car. The only drawback is the slippery surface, especially when combined with the Alpinus sleeping bag, making it easy to slide off. Rolling it up is very quick. The valve works flawlessly, and the compression straps are very practical. I spent a comfortable week with it camping in September and I'm very satisfied. I highly recommend it.
