The head is forged from 1055 carbon steel, with a refined heat-treatment process ensuring high impact strength while maintaining excellent edge retention. With a cutting edge measuring 15 centimeters, the Viking Hand Axe model easily chops large wood pieces and can be used in emergencies for food preparation.

Great product for your own modifications. The handle is well-mounted. Very good workmanship. I recommend it. The anti-corrosion layer on the steel can be easily removed. The steel, as always in Cold Steel products, is of high quality.

I don't understand why there are so many complaints. After fixing the handle and setting the head, it is great for modifications. The axe is very strong—after sharpening, it cuts into almost any wood and can be used in various ways without disappointing. The handle is also solidly made—I recommend removing the wax layer before modifying. As for the steel—the manufacturer marked it 'Taiwan' and added an anti-corrosion coating, but after removing it, it looks more classic. Ideal base for customization, excellent material quality!

In its original state, the axe head is a bit loose on the handle and the blade needs some refinement and sharpening. It's more suitable for a collection than for everyday use; it doesn't perform the best when chopping trees, but it's good for setting up camp and as a curiosity for friends.
