I was so satisfied with my purchase that I bought a second one. Despite its small size, the sharp end allows you to dig even in hard soil with no problem.

For me, the entrenching tool is almost perfect. Simple design without folding, compact, although the metal part is quite large. Very well sharpened, which most new entrenching tools lack. Screwed to the handle with two screws – looks a bit cheap, but it holds solidly with no play. You can use it as a hatchet or machete (with caution, of course).
-
Looking at other reviews, I won't say anything new: the entrenching tool is solid and durable, seems stronger than folding models. It digs and cuts very well, you can use it instead of an axe for thinner branches. I didn't notice a cover included – you can buy one separately.

It's perfect for the car. Digs great and, if necessary, can substitute for a small axe. They say it's indestructible, but time will tell.
-
Very solid and durable Cold Steel shovel. It does a great job cutting roots while digging, so I no longer need to use a machete. The quality of workmanship is high. I recommend it to everyone.
-
Very solid equipment, not just for digging. Strong, sturdy. A brand known for quality, especially for self-defense purposes. I recommend keeping it in your car just in case.

Easily cuts through roots while digging, good for chopping, and if needed it serves as a defensive tool at camp (though I’d prefer not to use it that way since it’s formidable equipment). After heavy rain or long downpours, you can easily dig out around your tent or tarp area. With a Cold Steel entrenching tool, all you need is a folding saw, and you don’t need a big knife for batoning—just a small one for cutting and carving, this set lets you do a lot at camp. Everyone chooses the right tools for themselves; some prefer a small axe, others an entrenching tool—the latter seems safer because it’s less unwieldy during use. Both have similar functions but also differ, as each can tackle different tasks. If you don’t want to take both tools (and usually you don’t), you have to choose. My entrenching tool came with very sharp side edges (I even slightly cut myself), the front edges were a bit less sharp. A few strokes with a portable sharpener solved the problem; you can also use a knife sharpener to make it really sharp. Buying a dedicated, well-fitted sheath is a must. Shipping was very fast, as always with Militaria.pl.

The shovel works really well (tested today). The handle doesn’t seem very hard or solid, so I’m not sure it’s good for throwing, but I could be wrong. I'm surprised at some reviews saying it’s sharp and good for cutting—mine was so dull that I could press my palm and move it across the whole blade with no risk of cutting myself. It's easy to sharpen with a file, and then a sheath becomes a must because it will cut right through your backpack. After sharpening, for this price, it's a really cool shovel. I recommend it.

Cold Steel Special Forces is the best shovel I’ve ever had in my hands. Solid, well-fitted, made of thick, good steel—in my opinion very durable. If you are looking for a solid entrenching tool for regular use, this is the perfect choice!

Shovel is very well made, bought at an attractive price. It's handy, strong, and well-sharpened. The quality-to-price ratio is excellent. I'm satisfied with the purchase and recommend it to others. I also bought a cover.

Compact and comfortable entrenching tool, very durable—perfect for Jeep trips in tough terrain. Solid, well-balanced, and with a classic look—it handled roots, firewood, and also getting out of mud, snow, or rubble.
-
The entrenching tool is solid and has the right weight. The edges are well-sharpened, even handle roots. I’ve used it for throwing as well and nothing happened to it. Worth recommending.
-
A very nice entrenching tool, well-made and looks elegant.

Nice shovel inspired by World War II models. Fulfills its function, though it’s rather heavy, which might be an advantage for some people.
