Alpinus Merino Wanaka Jacket - Olive
Jacket in olive prepared for use in the transitional season – in spring, autumn, and on cool and windy days. It combines low weight, a compact design, and effective wind protection with hybrid insulation containing Merino wool.
The lightweight construction increases comfort during everyday wear and outdoor activities. The model is suitable for walks, trekking, hiking, running in cooler conditions, and cycling. The muted color scheme and minimalist form make it easy to pair with outdoor and urban clothing.
Nylon reinforced with Rip-stop weave
The outer fabric and lining are made of 100% nylon using Rip-Stop technology. The material is lightweight and smooth, while also reinforced with a characteristic weave that reduces the risk of accidental tears spreading.
Rip-Stop increases the jacket’s resistance to mechanical damage and abrasion. Tightly woven nylon limits the penetration of cold gusts and provides protection against wind. The material also acts as a barrier against light moisture such as morning fog, dew, or light drizzle.
Hybrid insulation with merino wool
The jacket is equipped with hybrid insulation with a grammage of 60 g/m2 containing 50% Merino wool and 50% polyester. The combination of natural and synthetic fibers made it possible to achieve a lightweight insulating layer intended for active use.
Thin Merino fibers create microscopic air spaces that help maintain thermal comfort without significantly increasing the jacket’s weight. In cooler conditions, the insulation helps retain heat close to the body, while during movement it supports moisture vapor transport and reduces the risk of overheating.
Merino wool is valued for its thermoregulatory properties and for reducing the formation of unpleasant odors. The addition of polyester increases the durability of the insulation and helps maintain its proper structure.
3 practical pockets
Wanaka is equipped with 3 zippered pockets:
- 2 outer side pockets
- 1 inner pocket
Side pockets provide space for small accessories such as keys, tissues, or small personal items. The closure reduces the risk of accidentally losing the contents while walking or running.
The inner pocket allows safe storage of a phone, documents, wallet, or other items requiring additional protection.
YKK zippers, high stand-up collar
The jacket uses durable zippers from the renowned YKK brand. The main zipper runs from the lower edge of the jacket to the high stand-up collar. It is complemented by a chin guard that protects the chin.
The high stand-up collar protects the neck from cold and gusts of wind. When the main zipper is fully closed, it creates an additional barrier in an area particularly exposed to heat loss.
Extended back, adjustable hem, elastic cuffs
The extended back provides better protection for the lower back during movement. The bottom edge of the jacket is equipped with an elastic drawcord with a cord lock. This solution allows the fit to be adjusted to the body shape and helps reduce drafts from below.
The sleeves are finished with elastic cuffs that adapt to the wrists and limit the entry of cold air. The design improves comfort during activity and makes it easier to wear the jacket under an outer rain layer or a hardshell.
lightweight construction and easy transport
The jacket has a lightweight, uniform construction with subtle quilting in selected areas. This solution helps keep the insulation in the right place, while maintaining a smooth, minimalist form.
Low weight and compressibility make transport easier. Wanaka can be stored in a backpack as an extra layer in case of cooling weather or used while traveling when limiting luggage volume matters.

MILITARY is a premium dealer of Alpinus.
Alpinus is a European outdoor brand with a rich history, founded in 1990 by outstanding Himalayan climbers – Artur Hajzer, Janusz Majer, and Ryszard Warecki. From the very beginning, its mission was to create reliable clothing and gear for people who actively spend time outdoors. As one of the pioneering brands in Poland, Alpinus introduced clothing with a Gore-Tex membrane into its offer, setting new quality standards. After a period of absence, the brand returned to the market, combining its mountaineering heritage with modern technologies and an environmentally responsible approach to production. Today, it is recognized by both professionals and enthusiasts of outdoor expeditions.

Merino Wool is a material with natural antibacterial properties. It is distinguished by the lightness and softness of its fibers, its ability to absorb moisture and its high thermoregulation. The wool does not absorb odors, is anti-static, breathable, easy to clean, fire-resistant, and protects against UV radiation.
YKK zippers are high-quality zippers commonly used in clothing and accessories, manufactured by the Japanese YKK Corporation - one of the world's largest zipper manufacturers.
Rip-Stop weave protects the fabric from abrasions and tears. It is characterized by additional threads woven in at regular intervals, forming a mesh-like pattern. It provides high strength to the fabric, increases resistance to mechanical damage, especially tears.
