SOG PowerLitre Multitool - Stone Wash

Multi-purpose multitool that features 17 full-size, essential tools. The operation of the pliers is based on the patented Compound Leverage system, which increases their working force by using gears, allowing for one-handed operation.

Stainless steel construction, built-in corkscrew

The framework and tools are made from stainless steel and have undergone heat treatment to ensure optimal hardness and durability. This is the first SOG model to feature a built-in corkscrew.

easy access to tools, convenient carrying

The advantage of this multitool is the simple access to components without the need for unfolding it, enabling quick use of its functions. This model features a magnetic, hexagonal bit holder placed centrally in the device. A steel clip with the manufacturer's logo allows for convenient carrying of the multitool in a trouser pocket or attached to a belt.

SOG

MILITARY is a distributor of SOG.

SOG Specialty Knives & Tools is an American brand that was founded in 1986 by Spencer Frazier, who was inspired by the historic MACV-SOG knife used by special forces during the Vietnam War. The first model, the S1 Bowie, was developed in collaboration with Japanese master blacksmith Ichiro Hattori and quickly gained iconic status among tactical knives. A breakthrough moment in the brand's history was the introduction of the SEAL 2000 knife to the Navy SEALs' equipment - this model can now be seen in the Navy SEALs museum in Fort Pierce. In addition to knives, SOG is also known for its advanced multitools, which use patented Compound Leverage technology - a double pivot system that almost doubles the cutting force of the pliers. The brand's products are distinguished by their solid construction and precision workmanship and are designed for both professional users and outdoor enthusiasts.

I bought this multitool out of curiosity. It is a nice, small gadget but it also has some drawbacks. Let me start with the advantages: first of all, it is very small and light, which makes it suitable for everyday carrying. It is one of the few multitools equipped with a corkscrew, which can be considered both a plus and a minus, but I'll come back to the downsides later. The tool opening mechanism works smoothly, and that's a plus. Despite its small size, the Phillips screwdriver works well and is convenient to use. The blade, although seemingly bulky, is sharp enough. The bit holder with an opening lock is a great idea, especially as it secures the bit well. The stonewash finish is also a plus. As for the downsides, the rope, belt or cord cutter is simply dull, and pulling out tools other than the knife is difficult. Even though access to the scissors seems simple, in practice it is hard to take them out. There is also no full-sized flat screwdriver – only a very small one suitable for glasses or jewellery. You could try using a part of the rope cutter as a flat screwdriver, but it won’t be aligned with the axis. The previously mentioned corkscrew is also a disadvantage, as it negatively affects the comfort of using the tool. In summary, it is a better option than some small multitools, but if you are considering a larger Leatherman or Victorinox, the SOG definitely falls short. It might be worth it on promotion, but in my opinion, at the regular price, it is not worth buying.

I've always liked Leatherman multitools, but this model really surprised me in a good way. It's compact and lightweight, yet equipped with many practical features, carefully made pliers, a blade lock, bit holder, and a very cleverly designed bottle opener. Additionally, all the tools are lockable!
